Complete diff pumpkin with 3.9 final

Category: Accessories
Price: $500
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits: 2010+ G37 Coupe, 2010+ G37 Sedan, 2008-2009 G37 Coupe, 2008-2009 G37 Sedan
Location (State/Prov): CA
Item Condition: Used

Complete open diff pumpkin with 3.9 Final Drive. Pulled from a Skyline 250GT Type S in Japan with 23000 km (~14300 miles). Has the front flange for 6mt, so can be installed with no problems for manual trans guys, otherwise that front flange will need to be swapped out if you want to install for auto trans (relatively simple).

Perfect for guys who want to install a mechanical LSD and do not want the downtime of pulling apart their pumpkin. 3.9 final is a great upgrade (for 6mt) to get a little bit more acceleration without sacrificing top end speed and gas mileage. As an added bonus, I can offer a discounted price on a brand new OS Giken LSD if you're interested.

Asking only $500 picked up in Torrance, CA. Shipping possible, but will not be cheap due to weight/size and packaging materials.

Price comparisons:
Used pumpkin (open diff): $350
3.9 Final Gear: $550
PLUS the costs of labor

Out of curiosity, what is the difference between this open diff with different ratios vs a vlsd with with stock ratio?

I'm unclear about it. Is this a vlsd?

I could search but I'm at work, is this an upgrade for acceleration reasons on the 5AT or would it be too annoying at highway speeds?

this would be a better upgrade for the 7at, but still would be good for the 5at as well. open diff means no vlsd, basically a one wheel drive, like all stock non s g37's. the vlsd is easy to come by but the 3.9 gear is not, not many stock pumpkins come with that ratio. for reference, the 7at comes with a 3.3 final, whereas th he 5at is a 3.69 final.

If you change your mind on shipping I'd also be interested in this OP. Best of luck with the sale brother. Should be an easy and quick sell out there in the west coast.

So in theory would it be possible to modify a vlsd to a 3.9? And if so would the vlsd provide more immediate power/less slippage to the wheels?

I just looked up the final drive gears and they cost a pretty penny. This is a really good deal, GLWS OP!

Yes, a VLSD will mate to this final gear no problem. However, you may need different axle shafts to fit to the VLSD internally. However, a mechanical LSD, versus a VLSD, would provide better locking performance and better traction for high performance driving.

I see how that can lead to confusion.... I was told the donor car was a 250GT Type S, but the pumpkin is definitely open diff. Maybe the options are different in Japan, or either I was misinformed about the car, but regardless, it's an open diff with 3.9 gears
