these calipers arent as expensive as people may think. the fronts are $218 each + shipping.

That's because the Akebonos are not so great - see all the motortrend(or car and driver?) brakes tests with the 370z - not really performance brakes, more for looks. Bad on track good for everyday or looks. Not to bag on or this posting Akebono - They are what they are, It is a well-priced alternative, and I may just buy them....

Not to thread jack here, but the problem with the 370Z brakes was down to a lack of venting to the front wheels (the aero is TOO effective) and subsequent glazing of the front pads in the C&D test. The Akebono monoblock calipers and rotors are an effective BBK, but excessive heat will degrade any braking system.
