It's my moms car (she's got another one she can take), which is why I parked it closer to that side. It's definitely something I'm always worried about with an outdoor parking-lot kept car

Chase them away. Cats are cute right till the point where they climb onto your hood/roof and end up leaving scratches. Trust me I know this from personal experience.

I can't. I'm asleep most of the time that they are anywhere near my car and there's so many of them.
