Can you guys say DAMMMNNN ?
Of course it's worth it. We have the advantage that we need to drive slow and carefully so we don't get speeding tickets and get better gas mileage. I would say about 80% of the community doesn't track their car regularly so y not? The car looks great dumped with some crazy wheels. Whenever you mod a car it comes with risks. Body kits, turbos, being too low, etc. We all do whatever we want with our cars cause it's what makes us happy. Some choose form over function others just want boost and to be able to drive like maniacs. I don't care for that. I've always been about the look.

And I'm not saying that I don't like the "look" of this G. I do...

I love that people modify their cars differently. It adds diversity to the community. There are different tastes. And, as evidenced by your statement that it is worth it to dump your G/Z when you can barely clear a very slightly inclined driveway, there are different opinions. I'm sure all the guys in the stanced community would say my taste in modding is "blah" or "boring," and I respect their right to an opinion. I was just stressing that I think it is sort of a waste (for lack of a better term) of a fun VQ engine, when it is in a car that cannot go over 15MPH without the driver clenching tightly his @$$ cheeks every time he approaches a crack in the road...
I don't get why people are saying "it's too low", "it's not practical", "it's all about where you live", etc.... You guys are aware that there are guys in Japan with LS460's and LS600h's (newer models) that are lower and have just as much of a great stance as the OP right?
As far as driving goes, it doesn't have to be in a perfect world. Granted I don't have a 37, I drive around in some pretty sh*tty ares were dips, steep hills, potholes are around every corner. If the exhaust piping scrapes, who cares, it's not going to be visible. I've gotten stuck numerous times having to back out, and gun it into and out of an entrance.
Most people that complain about that stuff are afraid of some light scraping in general. Most also talk about the "performance" aspect, but really, how often do most people drive their car on the street like they would on the track?
With a stanced setup such as this, people tend to have stiffer spring rates, so the car isn't jumping all over the place. It's also about precision driving. Know your route, drive slow. I'm not saying go below the speed limit, but doing the speed limit helps save from getting tickets and helps from scraping. Majority of the time all you have to worry about is bumps (so try to avoid areas that have them) and driveways. As for the roads, you learn them, granted some are pretty bad and you just have to deal with it, that's when slowing down is the route to go.
And to those thinking this is just another fad, think again. It's been around for a long time. It's just that more people are starting to get into it and more people are doing it on different cars. It's a whole different game actually doing it and experiencing it rather than seeing it and making an observation and assumption.

sounds terrible.... I usually just say eff the place I have to go or park down the street and get my daily walk in. Hope I never have to go through that experience haha

Already have.
Eh, I'm just lazy. I've done more work on the fenders and that's helped with my previous setup, but now I'm on stocks and the tires are too big so it catches. Hopefully with the next setup my fender work plans allow me to tuck the wheel by mm.

What does it matter about guys in Japan? Yea it kinda does matter where you live in a way man, roads get jacked up due to changes in the temp. If you have drastic temp changes say like in Minneapolis your roads will be messed up so bad you wont be able to drive very many places because there are too many potholes. Also, if you live in that climate some people cant afford to have 2 cars so they use their G all year long and cannot afford to have it that low. I understand coilovers, but I am guessing not many people dump their car that low and then raise it up for the winter. Also I was stationed in Japan for 3 years and you dont see cars like this often at all and I traveled all over. I enjoy Ninjastatu's set up and I have said it since day 1 when he first posted and this look I love. Its just gonna be 50/50 as you can see throughought this thread. No big deal either you like it or you dont. Nothing to get upset with. I live here in south Texas and we have 3 big cities and I might be wrong but I rarley see anything like this. More people start doing this more power to them, I respect it. I also understand why people dont think its practical, its not brain surgery to figure that out. Anyways I hope people keep on pushing the envelope. Sorry to use up this thread.

And no, the area doesn't matter. I just got done mentioning that I drive in sh*t roads. Put it this way. I did this for quite some time.... -5.5 camber (FRONT) and -8 camber (REAR) with a 235/30 on a 10.5 and 235/35 on an 11.
Pic for reference (and this is BEFORE I dropped the front 1/4" and the rear 1/2":

I daily drive my car (20k miles per year), it's my ONLY car, I drive through Downtown LA, Hollywood, the ghettos of many cities, so it's definitely exposed to some very bad roads. Hence why I say where you live doesn't matter. Now say if it snows in certain areas, I can understand that (just throw on some winter wheels and raise it up, and when the snow goes away, bring back the setup). This is just me, there are some that don't daily their car or have air suspension and ride up high and park low. or don't drive through areas with bad roads that often, but there's still a fair amount of people that do....and several are quite a bit lower than I am.
I can't agree with you more, it's a love it or hate it thing for the most part. There are several guys in TX that have some pretty slammed cars, mainly in the Houston and DFW areas.
It matters about guys in Japan because they're modding 120k cars and slamming it more barely able to go over a mini speed bump and people here are wining about spending money on a 40k car and damaging it.

I can care less if people talked crap about the car....and they were actually talking about the rims, not the car, because they were step lip fronts and reverse lip rears and don't understand it's something that's not common here, but you'll find it done in Japan....and that you probably wouldn't notice in person. My point of view has nothing to do with what people think of my car.
I'm talking from experience saying the excuses people give don't make sense. My setup is pretty crazy and if I'm able to daily in areas I go, then the majority of people shouldn't have any problems doing the same.

Simply, it's a choice... The people of the stanced movement know what they are getting themselves into when they do that to their cars. They make a conscious decision to put their cars that low and stretch their tires, and consequently, drive slowly. There are others who make the choice of function over form, or performance over looks.
One is no "better" than the other. It's personal preference...
