Simply, it's a choice... The people of the stanced movement know what they are getting themselves into when they do that to their cars. They make a conscious decision to put their cars that low and stretch their tires, and consequently, drive slowly. There are others who make the choice of function over form, or performance over looks.
One is no "better" than the other. It's personal preference...

I personally love the look, but I don't want to do it to my car. No matter what anyone says, it greatly affects the way the car can be driven (I drive like madman, and already scrape like crazy).
One last thing.... There are definitely some places you cannot own a car that is this low with wheel fitment like that. The roads in Michigan and Minn are beat to hell from the salt, and can't be compared to anything in SoCal, FL, or TX. As someone who has traveled all over the world (20 countries, 40 states) I can say without a doubt there are some places you would literally destroy your car in a matter of weeks no matter how careful you are. I got to be honest, in my 10+ trips to Japan, I have seen maybe 2-3 cars stanced like this. 99% of modified cars there have meaty tires and modest drops. The scene in Japan is really not much different than ours from my experience (and the roads are much better in general). There are a select few that are part of this scene in Japan, but no more than there are in the US (and probably less overall).
^^THIS!!! SOooo many threads from newbs asking "what size rims and offset should I get" and a bunch of people chime in with 11" +15 or some crazy **** without explaining the pain that comes with that type of set up.
Yup. As long as you know what you are getting into, and most do. My only concern is that there are some noobs that ask about fitment on here and people reply with crazy offsets, but don't explain what it takes to fit an aggressive setup. If you recommend an aggressive setup to someone, you should at least explain all the necessary details or please don't say anything at all.....

I think I'm more impressed with the photography than the stance of the car. Excellent pictures.
I'm a bit conservative when it comes to lowering. First off... that's so low it is illegal in CA. Second... a speed bump would damage your car.
But it's your ride, so as long as you like it, go on witcha bad self! Did I mention the pictures were top notch? Great work.

State law requires the center of the low beam be 22" (or 24" but I think 22") above the ground. G35/7's need not worry about that. In addition to that, the lowest part of the vehicle's body must be higher than the lowest part of the rim. When it comes to stanced cars, most of them have some camber, so it's proper to measure from the inner barrel.
When I had my setup, I wasn't aware of this. Cop was measuring from the outer part. Had I told him to measure from the inner I would never have gotten a ticket. And mine was because of the front mud guard. When I had my most recent setup, I would have been able to comply with the law even with a 2 finger gap all around since the inner barrels on my wheels were about 3/4 of the height of the fob key's width.
Props to the OP but how can somebody drive that low? Idk of any state or county with perfect roads, flat garages, no speed bumps etc to be able to drive around like that without scrapping all over the place.
