A drive in the cloud and an All Japan Skyline meet.
A drive in the cloud and an All Japan Skyline meet.
So finally.. a decent road trip. Destination: Hot springs about 100 miles south of Tokyo and Fuji Speedway.
Roads: long stretch of Tomei highway with plenty of turns going over a mountain range followed by awesome Hakone Turnpike, Izu Skyline, Hakone Skyline private mountain roads, where speed limits exist only as a symbol. Basically cops don't patrol private roads.
First day visibility was ok, so I pushed the car pretty hard, but it seemed effortless. The car pulled up the hill in 4th gear and still was accelerating. Cornering was pretty spectacular too with plenty of grip and predictability.
Second day featured a drive through dense fog with very limited visibility, so most of the driving was slow in 2nd and 3rd gears. Being stuck behind a prius or an old man driving a Audi A4 slower than a sea turtle was no fun either, until I finally honked him so me and about 10 other cars could pass him. These idiots have no manners. People should be ticketed for not checking their mirrors!
Anyway, here are some pics
The drive:

The meet

The classic track run. Those are total badass. Very quick, no electronics, and really really loud!

It was good to see a few of these being pushed to the limit instead of being stuck at Tokyo traffic jams.

This dude was seriously quick. I don't know what his mods are, but he overtook all the GTRs during track run.

Apparently eveyrone in Japan has a right hand drive Infiniti.

Kind of like the Impul grille

I'd kill to make my car look like this!
Note the detail wax. It actually got redder than the car next to it.

Nice pics. I really like the of of your car int he heavy fog and the OG Skylines.
It's totally laughable that they all slap a bunch of Infiniti badges on their Nissans and over here we do the opposite. I guess people everywhere just want their car to be or at least look like something else that it's not.
Thanks for sharing.
