im interested in that kind of drop with springs only but wouldn't the struts die way quicker?

Yea they definitely would but that's true for any spring. That's why if your going to be keeping the G for a long time and you have the money your better off switching to coils.

^That being said, I don't recall anyone on this forum having had problems so far with springs but the G has only been out for a few years.
