You can get cheap wheels that are high quality (e.g. Enkei RPF1), and you can get expensive wheels that are low quality (way too many to list).


I do have to agree that the type of failure shown is evident of one of the following:

A. a wheel with compromised structure (e.g. powdercoated)
B. a ultra-lightweight wheel made for a specific purpose and ultra-tight tolerances
C. a plain low-quality wheel

In this case, it seems that A and B can be quickly eliminated, and every failure of this type is one of the 3 listed above.

 

@ 2C: I had no idea your accident was that bad....

Those "intact" wheels are RE30s. Two of them were irreparably damaged, but they didn't just flat out shear. I suppose that it helps that it's the strongest of the "big 3" Volks.

Bolded section very true. Not all expensive wheels are quality, just like not all inexpensive wheels are sh*t. Just gotta do your research and find out what's really true about the company's quality of their products.

It can happend to any wheel, that doesnt take away from the fact that Chikara are not well made hence the price.

My problem with this arguement is the fact their is no foundation to everyones arguement besides the assumption of low price = low quality. Where are the impact test, why didn't the other 3 rims shatter like the rear rims. Would a "higher price rim survive a direct contact with a wall? My only concern in quality is during everyday driving, pot holes, train tracks speed bumps, etc. If the rims fail in those conditions then in my opinion they are low quality and doesn't deserve to be on my G. True test is to get a sledge hammer and hit the spokes of the rims of other compared priced rims which will bend nd which will shatter. Until I see those test, all arguements with quality is heresay and lacks foundation...

Here are some facts when you buy chikara rims.

Don't slam into walls.

If u want to slam into walls then buy volks or any other "higher quality" rims.
