HFC install Bay Area??

Hi all,

I've called at least 5 different muffler shops in the Bay Area who all say they can't install my HFCs because of smog issues. Another group of 5 are charging me over 200 for the installation. Anyone who's had experience with this have any recommendations?

Thanks!

I installed my own and would say anything under $300ish is a fair labor charge.

Its fairly easy to install yourself, its mostly time consuming and annoying because of the demon bolt... if you do want to do it yourself, i would recommend...

two person job, 14MM shallow socket from underneath, the add 3 inch 1/2 extension from underneath after, one person from the top with 3 x 10inch or 9inch extensions on a breaker bar, person from underneath to guide the extension to "Link" then just snap the bolt off.

That's almost exactly what I did^^^.. If you loosen and remove the steering wheel joint its a breeze to get to. Just make sure to mark it cuz if you put it back on with even 1 tooth off you'll not only have a crooked steering wheel but it'll throw a bunch of codes until you adjust it again.

Mine coated 120$ in San Mateo but idk if he's willing to do it to anyone. Also a shop in San Jose. Can't say the name but use Google.
