With the first oil change from the dealership, do they use synthetic?

I haven't seen her in a while. She is usually on a night that I see. Where are you HERG37S?

No synthetic, just regular oil. The dealership I go to that charges $40 told me they see this often from other dealerships. They are surprised that they get away with charging this much. I was just to busy and in a rush to really think about it at the time. I was just pissed more about the service. No hi from anyone (and it was not busy there either) and no contact with the techs.

No, they should be following the service manual which says not to use synthetic until after 20000 or 25000 miles I believe.

You probably got charged for the "Premium" Maintenance Schedule.

There are three types of maintenance schedules - B, A, and Premium (or was it 2, 1, and Premium?). The Premium schedule have a more comprehensive list of stuff that they will "inspect" when compared to schedule A. Schedule B is just an oil change and nothing is inspected.

I paid about $100 @ Frontier Infiniti for my first oil change too only because I wanted them to inspect the entire car for it being a first year production model and all. I went with schedule A for my 2nd oil change. I was going to do my own oil change for the upcoming 3rd oil change but now after hearing that Nissan/Infiniti will void your warranty on the powertrain if you don't use their oil, I might just have them do a schedule B on it.

BTW, they will automatically charge you for the premium maintenance unless you tell them that you want schedule A or B (1 or 2) performed instead.

That is what I kind of thought but from what the service record showed it was only an oil change. They didn't do the Premium service. They only did an oil change. Premium service takes longer than 45 minutes when they wash the car.

I get an additional sheet of paper with check boxes on stuff they inspected and signed by the technician. It took them about an hour-ish to do the Premium schedule on mine. So I am assuming you didn't get a courtesy car wash even with paying $150?!

No, they gave me a courtesy wash just like every other Infiniti dealership. That is what takes the most time. My car was dirty from the drive so I didn't mind them cleaning it. No check list of what they did though. Just gave me the key and said I was good to go. No "everything looks good" or anything like that. Back on subject though, if you pay more than $50 for an oil change they are ripping you off.

I'm going to do my first oil change and I called frontier and they quoted me $98 something.. I asked if I'm getting the premium maintenance and they say yeah..

then I called peninsula infiniti and they quoted me like 50 something bucks.. I asked if it's premium and they say nah u dont need it for the first time.. but we're gunna inspect the car anyways and a courtesy car wash.. gunna take 45-50mins.

lol screw frontier.. thats the reason why i didnt buy my car from there though i live 10mins WALK from there? and I got mine from infiniti of marin

they wanted to give me a free oil change for the first time but i dont wanna drive all the way to san rafael.. and peninsula is the nearest one after frontier for me.

Considering the fact that they have the same owners, it's funny that Frontier is charging $98 for an oil change while Peninsula is charging $50 something .

How much does Marin charge? My last oil change at Oakland was $40 and it included a car wash.

My first was a free voucher and 2nd was free from VVEL knocking TSB. 3rd will be $34.99 with service special coupon.

Unless of course I go with Motul 8100 for an ester-based synthetic. Then I will be paying $22 in labor.

You guys are ALL getting ripped off by your dealers. Here's the best deal below. Copy and print it if you're from metro Detroit and do conventional dealership changes:
