Low RPM vibration
Low RPM vibration
For about the past week I've been hearing a vibration/grinding noise from the engine bay, or underneath it. It only happens when I'm on the gas pedal at slow speeds/low RPMs between like take off and 35mph. Once I accelerate past that point I no longer hear the noise, likewise when I'm in idle I also do not hear it. I'm by no means a mechanic and have next to no clue what could be causing the noise.
Which brings me to my next question. The military recently sent me to McGuire AFB near Trenton, NJ, and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a good mechanic/shop in the area? Preferably a place where I can also get an UpRev tune, not required, but I've already installed CAI, and recently had HFC's installed. I'd also like to throw a CB on in the future so I'd like to tune it once the bolt ons are done.

Might seem stupid, but I recently had a very similar problem, only during acceleration between 1500 and 2500 rpm, went away if I let off the gas. Turned out to be a bracket for the driver side intake tube right behind the filter element. I have the k&n intakes. It was rattling again something but fixed that and the problem went away. I don't know how it made that much noise inside the cabin but it did.

The go-to shop for our platform here in NJ is JDS motoring in Keyport. I had them fix my jacked up suspension and camber kits that my local shop installed incorrectly. Jas is the guy who owns it. Him and his dad have been working on Gs and Zs for a loooooong time and they know their stuff. My friend had his Z tuned there. It's a bit of a drive but it's a good shop for parts and tunes.
Still not sure what's causing the vibration/grinding noise under the hood though, everything seems to be tightened up. Really hoping it's not something too bad.
Ironically, I could use your help if you figure out what this is. I have the exact same issue. A pretty low pitched, loud vibration at low RPMs that goes away as I accelerate.
I'll update when I figure out what might be causing it. Going to look over the CAI tomorrow and make sure everything is solid as it's the only thing I've installed myself.
Anyone else have any ideas what might be causing it?

Now that it's warm out my vibration is gone. I feel like I drive a completely different car in the winter. Like a dressed up plastic rattle box that's just waiting to come out of its shell in the spring.
Yup, my rattles are temp related too. One hates about the car..
