G37 Sedan Chat Thread Meet-up
That's good stuff. I recently switched to the Citrus wash (only because I got a gallon jug for $14.99.
I've never used any off the shelf sealants, however I have used JetSeal from Chemical Guys. Also, if you had a polisher, I'd recommend this:
Chemical Guys GAP_VKIT_04 - VLINE Polishing Sampler Kit (4 oz)
I've used the V34 to start, then cut with the V36, then smoothed it all out with the V38. These work really well if you have a orbital polisher.
Another great sealant I've used is OptiCoat.

Jet seal does seem like a great product, but unfortunately I won't be able to get my hands on that right this moment which is what I need , thanks for the input though I'll try to find OptiCoat at one of the stores...
unfortunately whatever I will be doing prep-wise to my car will be done by hand so that VKIT is off the list...

If you find OptiCoat, try and find a drill polisher attachment. That will really allow you to polish the car efficiently. That's what I use and it works great.

I've owned a couple of random orbital buffers over the decades, but I always come back to doing this stuff by hand. The more often you do it right, and maintain the surface of the car, the easier it is each time you do it. Plus, there's a certain Zen to cleaning the car, that makes the effort part of the reward. I know that sounds like psychobabble, but it works for me.
Here's a tip on tires. After washing the car (including the tires), use a spay-on tire foam. Let it dry; could do that overnight if you want. The next day, rub in a Tire Gel. Later that day, lightly wipe it down with a cloth. Your tires will look freakishly black and clean, and actually stay that way for quite a while. (Again, I'm using Meguiar's products here.)

I've got an upright Makita drill that I use. It has 3 variable speeds, and the polishing bit I have has a velcro pad that holds on tightly to applicator pads. I've never had an issue using this method. But to each their own, ya know?

No worries John, you've fought the good fight and gotten us this far!
My edit disappeared from yesterday, odd. From what I can see we should still be good as far as people bringing things overall. Doesn't appear that KOrE or JonMS had committed to bringing anything so we "should" be good.

Good to know, will try to make it, schedule is hectic until May but for sure after then.
and what sealant do you use? and that is to be done AFTER applying and polishing the wax right? never used sealant or knew much about detailing either
I have used Jet Seal 109 from Chemical Guys and it is superb. I polished the car first, then applied the sealant to the bare surface and then wax to cover it over and the car for longer protection. Sealant is bound to hold up for 12 months and could be more as i continue waxing every month or two. Will probably reapply sealant after 6 months. Worked beautifully for me.

I'll also be covering my freshly painted sport bumper with tape for the trip. There's no way in hell I'm letting it get loaded with rock chips this quickly.[/QUOTE]
Was thinking of doing the same but found this video. And for anyone thinking what he means by tape, i included a pic of how it looks.
