Speeding ticket in NYC
Speeding ticket in NYC
Hey, I was curious if anyone knew how to get out of a speeding ticket or at least reduce it? Maybe some good attorneys in the area.
I was going 76 in a 50 (on the Belt Pkwy, if anyone is from NYC) in a ****ing Honda Odyssey after dropping my cousin and his family off at the airport at 5:30am. I honestly didn't have the slightest clue I was going that quick cause the car next to me was too, never knew minivans can reach speeds like that (obviously not literally) lol. I have no priors and none since then. I got the ticket November 2011, plead not guilty, my court date was supposed to be 7/3 but I rescheduled. Now it's scheduled for 6/25/2013 which is great, hopefully the cop retires after one more court rescheduling.
But any advice on lawyers or anything? It's a stupid 6 point ticket.
Also, do the points become "active" after you're found guilty or starting when you get the ticket? I can't get a straight answer. I mean, they typically stay on your insurance for 3 years. But does that countdown start from the date of the ticket or when you get the points?
Thanks.

Unfortunatly, it goes by the actual conviction date.
Keep postponing it.
That's the only thing you can do.
Mine was given to me by highway patrol, after stalling about a year he didn't show.
He gets one more then it gets tossed out.
Good luck, the attorneys are gonna be big$.

I'm willing to pay $ as long as points disappear...6 pts is a ****load and I'll lose more on insurance anyway.
Thanks for the answer btw.
But regardless I'm looking for an attorney. Rather pay twice the ticket than the points & ticket.
