Arlington, VA Winter tires HELP
Arlington, VA Winter tires HELP
Hi all,
I need some opinions on winter tires for this area as I just moved here last month. I know that winter tires are much better than all season, however, the people I talked to said there isnt much snow days here (~5 days total).
I have an extra set of All-Seasons tires from when I bought the car in addition to the normal summer. A set of 18s w/ winter tires would cost me about $1350.
Do you think it will be safe if I switch to the All Seasons for winter driving or snow tires are a must? Also, if it's the first..what is the best way to get to work on the those snow days (no metro station). Thank you!

Many A/S tires perform very well in the winter. Assuming your winter roads are generally clear with the occassional storm you should be OK ( I assume you don't have AWD). I've used A/S tires on my cars in New England with no problems, but with AWD.
