I got my done when I lived in California. I think it is 3M but not 100% sure. I got 30% on my side windows and 15% in the rear. It's still pretty light on the sides. I have a friend with a Genesis coupe and he got 20% all around and it looks dark. I've also seen 15% all around and that's real dark!

I got 35% on the sides, and 20% in the rear. My guy used 3M Hybrid film. No complaints to date from the law either. On my last car I ran 20% all around. My first ticket came after I moved down here, when I was riding through Fairfax on Rt. 50 one night (no other reason for stop). Honestly, 20% was a bit dark at night, IMO. This is why I chose 35% on the G.

I am thinking of going with 35% all around. How do you like 3M Hybrid film?
I have a quote for $270 to install 3M Color stable tint and another for $370 to install Formula 1 Pinnacle (Ceramic). I am not sure if it is worth spending $100 extra on ceramic tint.

I like the 3M Hybrid film. It does a pretty good job at deflecting heat from the sun. The glare is minimal if any when it's sunny as well. I'd consider getting your back window a shade darker than the sides of you can. It doesn't look noticeably different, unless you stare at the rear corner of the car. The reason for choosing 20% on the back window, is to help with headlight glare at night. In the end, it's going to come down to the amount of money you want to spend on tint. My tint guy at home hooked me up with an awesome price ($200), but it was in exchange for some photos for his portfolio. Remember, I drove 500 miles just to visit family and give him the business.

I am trying to get quotes from couple of other shops. I'll get this done in the next couple weeks.

Thanks for your input.

I got the 3M hybrid 20% all around, it is perfect. Too dark and I tend to have issues seeing curbs at night.

Did you guys see that there is a bill in the VA House/Senate that would require the annual VA car inspection to ensure that all tint is legal? That would suck!

I feel 20% is a little too dark. I'll most likely go with 35%.

Never had an issue. Both my previous car (Acura TSX with 35% all around), my G, and my two SUVs (both front windows are at least 35%) have passed each time. I do use the same local import shop so that may help, but I don't think current VA inspection cares about the percentage of tint. That may change though with a bill in the VA Senate/House.

I haven't had issues with tint....but you need to find a shop (or a friend) that isn't just inspecting to find an issue to make themselves some money.

Thank you all for your responses. I'll go with 35% all around.
Should I wait till the winter is over? I park my car outside and was wondering if snow or scraping the ice on the windows damages the tint ( when it is still new).
