New G37 Owner

My wife wrecked her car and took mine so I got to go shopping for a new to me performance sedan and after a load of research I started looking for a relatively nice G37. It took me 3 weeks to find a nice and unmolested car (I wanted a virgin to molest myself). She is a 2013 G37 Journey RWD with 108K on the odometer. She needed some KH3 code touch up paint in a few places and I’ve taken care of that. My only experience in the luxury performance sedan world is a 2005 Lincoln LS with the 3.0 jaguar V6. This G37 feels like a rocket ship in comparison!!! I do feel like the LS handled better in tight corners. With that in mind, I’ve seen where people have taken OEM anti-sway bars from the G37 coupe and have improved the feel of the sedan. Do you guys feel this is a worth while upgrade? If so, where would you source the part? I’m not sure about bolt on performance upgrades because this car is already light years a better performer than anything I’ve ever had in the 27 years I’ve been driving. I wouldn’t mind a more aggressive exhaust note if I could creep up on 400 horsepower at the crank just for sake of it. To get close to that I would need an intake that breathes from in front of the radiator, a new intake, and a tune. What exhaust systems would you recommend? Also, I’m seeing how so many people are just deleting their cats. How much improvement are they getting just from this? Won’t they always be looking at a check engine soon light? All in all, I love this car! I’m thinking real hard about bolting some things on and I would greatly appreciate your experienced input? I did all I could to the Lincoln LS but never got it to the level of the V8 model. I would like like to do what I can to add some power lower in the curve on this car. I’m not interested un ringing out peak horsepower. Thank you guys!

Welcome to the community, and thanks for not creating a "did I get a good deal" thread :-)

Lots to unpack here...

108K is fairly low as we have members here with well north of 200K miles on their G.

Cat removal is common if you live in a state where emissions is relaxed. But yes, many grapple with O2 Sensor issues once the cats are removed, and rasp is often an issue as well. But you can make more power w/o cats (requires a tune).

High flow cats are the path I'd take if I weren't in CA with the emissions "thought police".

Best exhaust and is a red pilled conversation that starts with a budget as there are many options and tradeoffs. Motordyne's shockwave is a crowd favorite, but it will set you back 2.5K with tax and shipping. I have an axleback with shorter resonators and it meets my needs and solicits alot of positive feeback from pedestrians and even customers I ride around for work.

400 crank HP is doable, but will require that you drop some cash as these cars are fairly optimized stock. Forced induction (TT or SC) is the best path to alot more power, but be careful as the automatic trans struggles to maintain reliability around the 400HP mark. This is why I like the Stillen SC for our cars.

Our cars properly lowered, spaced and braced with good rubber will embarrass an LS from a handling perspective. The FM platform leveraging a double wishbone front suspension and independent multi-link rear suspension is shared with the 370Z and is only 300lbs heavier (sedan). As such, the G is not that far off from the Z once you close the gaps on the "luxury" tradeoffs Infiniti made for the sedan.

Again, welcome to the community.

Did you see how Socket used carriage returns to avoid having one massive, impossible-to-read run on sentence?

Welcome to the forum, OP. The old LS was a nice car.

Any brand aftermarket sways are a must have. And there's no way in this world you're going to achieve 400hp in that car without boost.

He said crank, so I was thinking maybe/sorta, but 35-40hp on top of the 330hp stock is likely a typical bolt on scenario. There's the 400hp kit Z1 promotes, but I have never seen anyone say they dyno'd that kit at 400 crank HP.

Sways were included in my bracing comment above as I was trying to summarize. Definitely an excellent addition to minimize body role and dial down understeer.
