Modding exhaust on 2011 G37x Sedan

I’m looking to get an upgrade to my exhaust on my g37x sedan but I know that there aren’t many options for specifically the x sedan. Because of this I’m not sure what direction to go. I’m looking for a better sound than stock exhaust but mainly anything to help the engine breathe better and I won’t complain about any slight boost to hp. I’m a college student on a budget so I don’t exactly want a full catback unless it’s under 1000$. I’m also not doing a muffler delete, cat delete, or any type of “delete” that will ruin inspections for me (I live in Missouri). Too much of a hassle I also just don’t like the sound of a muffler delete or test pipes by themselves. Any help is appreciated and this is my first time posting here so if I’m doing something dumb my b 🙏

Is your current exhaust still solid? Because if your focus is a little extra rumble with a little extra grunt (un-tuned), consider just upgrading to high flow cats and leave the cat-back alone. That should come in under your $1000 budget. It won't look any better, but that isn't the point. Try to find a shop who's already replaced cats on the G/Z, because the OEM cats are really awkward to remove.

However, if you want to look at the rear of the car and admire some polished aluminum pieces, consider getting an axle-back, like the Tanabe Medallion. It won't really impact performance, but the new cans will sound a little better. Also, it would probably come in under budget, and could be a DIY.
