08 G37S build / what should i do?

I just got a 08 G37s vq37vhr Coupe with 59k original miles , it currently has a Isr single exit exhaust system and Gen 3 stillen cold air intakes . other then that nothing has been modified or changed. I’m wondering what people do to build g37s and which way is more reliable and which is more power . i’m wondering about how people build it N/A and how people turbo their Vq’s . i’m 18 and work and make enough to build my car so why not , thanks .

Best thing you can do is read through all the build threads on this forum and hop on over to The370Z.com for drivetrain only builds since the drivetrain is shared between both cars.

Low miles, nice
even with just intake and exhaust, you'll get more out of her tuned.
do you know if it's tuned?

Install an oil pressure gauge stat!
Look up "oil galley gaskets" to see why
Do the Sunroof drains next
only way to keep your ECM and BCM dry

Auto or manual?
Sport or non?
There will be different suggestions accordingly

I’d suggest first getting some supporting mods out of the way. Whether you go NA or FI you’re going to want to make sure you can get the power down and keep heat under control.

1. Subframe bushing collars/new subframe bushings, engine and transmission mounts, differential bushings, control arms with stiffer bushings. All of these will help to reduce the movement in the drivetrain/suspension=less power being absorbed by bushing deflection/you can take corners faster. Your car is low mileage but with the age of it it’s probably a good idea to check the bushings in control arms, knuckles, etc. OEM is the way to go if you don’t want to sacrifice comfort but if you want to add to the rigidity of the car even further look at getting some urethane or spherical bushings for the suspension.

2. If you have the sport trim it comes with a VLSD which is good to a certain extent (better than an open diff!), but getting a helical or clutch LSD will be leagues better and probably necessary if you plan going FI.

3. Auto or manual adding a transmission cooler is a good idea. I might be wrong but the 08 came with an engine oil-coolant heat exchanger, but a proper engine oil cooler is a necessity if you go N/A tuned or FI.

My car is an N/A build so far… I’m not tuned yet but with all these mods in addition to intakes and full exhaust my car accelerates noticeably quicker. Next up is a new fuel pump and injectors then off to the dyno!

Anyone with a tuning software license and a laptop really. Just depends on what’s most convenient for you. I plan to have a shop that is local to me dyno tune my car. Easiest way is probably getting a remote tune from somewhere like Z1 or Admintuning.
