My first Infiniti, and it won't start
I just picked up a cheap G37x. I replaced the battery but I cannot get it to start. I'm thinking it's the fuel pump, I pulled the back seat up and can't hear the pump priming or anything. Just cranks and cranks and cranks but doesn't fire. Are pump failures common on these? Tbh this is my first car that isn't a Toyota, so I'm eager to learn. I was just hoping it was a dead battery.
Welcome, and while it could be a dead battery or corroded battery cables, there are other possibilities as well. How many miles are on this car? Did it come with two key FOBs, or only one aftermarket FOB? Could it be an immobilizer (factory anti-theft) issue?
It's a brand new battery. I'm getting over 12 volts. It's got one key fob. It will crank but won't fire.
There is potentially a long list of things that could cause a crank – no start condition.
Everything from numerous faulty circuits or components to the anti-theft system (which only seems to stop law abiding owners from starting their car based on the number of thefts posted on the forum recently).
Your issue is made a bit harder to remotely troubleshoot since you don’t have any prior history on the car.
One of the first steps I can think of would be to attach a code reader and see what codes show up, clear the codes, attempt to start and see what codes continue to show up. That would at least narrow down the possibilities.
