Hey just got my first G yesterday.been looking for a new car and I stumbled on a g37.. ended up looking it up and the more I looked into them the more I wanted one...
Ended up deciding on a g37 or q50 because a reliable luxury sports car sounds perfect to me lol searched for months and yesterday I made a day trip 5 hr drive to Dallas because a dealership out there had both in very good condition with super low miles .
I decided on the 2012 g37x because it was more fun to drive and I've always liked driving I'm a sucker for fun cars..
I don't know jack sh$& about cars due to a pretty intense and troubled past didn't have the time but I will learn and def gonna baby this thing because that's how it's been treated so far.. probably gonna keep it a sleeper on the exterior w maybe some minor tweaks but def want it clean. I'm all about upgrading everything else though.. 2012 g37x
Hope I didn't go on too long about nothing lol I just found this forum and I'll definitely be doing some reading in the near future
Welcome! There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum to accomplish whatever mods you want and it is still very active as well. Happy scrolling and you picked up a nice reliable car. Keep up with the maintenance and your new purchase will last you a long time.
Welcome and how many miles are on your G? A good introduction to how cars work and upgrading your G would be to change out all fluids to upgraded ones. Start by learning how to bleed brakes with something like ATE Super 200 DOT 4 fluid. You'll need to buy some basics, like a jack, jack stands, torque wrench and metric wrenches, but these are tools that'll pay for themselves in no time.

That's the one I got 49k miles on her. And sounds good I will look it all up I am extremely busy right now my psycho (not using the term loosely lol) baby mama just left state ditched me and our 1 and 3 yr old so I have my hands full ATM 😬
so I was planning on taking it into a shop in the next couple of days to get everything checked out, but I will be researching and as soon as I have time will try my hand at it..
I have plenty of tools, could probably use a better jack and stands, I'll look up what all I need for what.. and im a fast learner as long as I can get hands-on experience so as soon as I can I will. Would be great to figure some things out by the time my baby boy gets a lil older so I can show him some stuff I never got to learn 🤷♂️

Hey Derek, welcome to the forum. Beautiful car.
If I can suggest, leave the personal stuff to the off-topic threads. I'm sorry you're going through that scenario. Though the 37x can be a great, fun, sexy and safe car it can be problematic at times and gas guzzler.
Not saying the standard rule of "take care of it and it will take care of you" doesnt apply to these cars but certain issues do tend to sneak up on folks.
My best recommendation is to properly inform yourself on your down time. Ask but do search as well, sadly most of the important info for these cars was discovered and documented for more than a decade. This can make searching frustrating especially when the answer is just a new thread away. This will train your patience and will further inform you in the correct fix that best suits you.
Beware of the "simple" responses being that most of them come from immaturity/ seeing others do it/ extensive mechanical skills of folks who clearly cannot comprehend how for some folks things need to be properly planned instead of impulsively done after watching a 2 minute YT video.
