Hi everyone, excited to join the community, new member here from Queensland, Australia !
I am the proud owner of a 2008 coupe 5AT. after having the car for over a year and slowly optimising with the standard go-to bolt-ons, I feel I am ready to venture into the next threshold of power output.
Car is currently tuned to 315whp and is really great, however I can't help but wonder what an F.I system would do to my smile =D
Not looking to make insane power but a smooth 500ish hp on a safe tune would satisfy me im sure! Am open to S.C but leaning more towards a Single Turbo system
I have a plethora of questions regarding doing so and have been slowly familiarising myself with the relevant forums, but I have some questions and concerns which I thought I would break to the public, forgive me if I am somewhat naive.
Firstly > the main question I have and the main reason for this post is; being an auto trans I am worried that by adding power, the box will not be able to handle it. Is there anyone on here that knows from experience if further work is needed to the 5AT to support this kind of modification? Will I kill the transmission? or even drastically reduce its lifespan? If so - what is the recommended action? I already know that the newer 7AT does not like it, but have heard conflicting things about the 5.
Secondly are there any other quirks or problems besides the obvious on what is needed for such an upgrade? things like bearings or other internals. are Studs and/or heads recommended? Do I need to be wary of oil pressure, clearances or internal heat damage with the added fuel flow ?
Any kind of advice is SUPER appreciated, but please don't feel pressured to reply. and feel free to correct me on anything I am unaware of.
Cheers!
