Hello, just trying to start getting the posts up as I'm pretty sure it's like some of the other forums I've been on and you can't use the classifieds until a certain time/post count (I've tried the search but apparently I suck worse than my ex). Flying out to TX tomorrow to pick up my G. 2013 G37S Sedan, 6M, black on black, paper air filter stock. Will post some pictures when I get it. Had an 06 g35 so I am somewhat familiar with the car. Currently have an 08 gmc sierra 2500hd 632/1348 wheel, a 95 mustang (don't judge me) that makes about 375 crank (yes the truck will drag it all the way to the 1/8th) and a 12 victory XCT(bike). From what I can see this forum looks to be fairly active and hasn't been killed off by the faceless book. Anyway, if someone has any advice on what not to do/parts to avoid it would be appreciated. This is going to be my daily beater but I can't leave anything stock. So far the plan is some Swifts, Hotchkiss, long intakes, and some kind of fairly quiet exhaust. I've heard the q300 is supposed to be good but everyone complains it's too quiet. Look forward to hearing from everyone.

Congrats. Q300 is marginally louder than stock. Enough to let you know it's there. Gets louder when you put your foot down more. Not loud enough to annoy the neighbors at 0500 on a sunday morning.

 

That sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. 7 more posts and I can check to see if anyone here is parting ways with one.

 

On ebay the going price is $1100+. I paid around $850 back in mid 2012. Inflation........

Good for you! I had a 6 hour train ride and an 8 hour drive home with mine almost 10 years ago. Well worth the effort, and a little adventure all on its own.

 

I've got the Stillen long tube intakes, if you get that just make sure to watch for the AC lines, some people have had rubbing issues. Quiet exhaust would be the Invidia, the Stillen exhaust is also on the quieter side, louder than the Invidia, but probably a good balance imho as I've heard some at car meets.

I initially bought the Tanabe Mufflers and Vibrant resonators and it was relatively quiet unless you got on it. I have a full Ark cat back and HFCs, but find it a bit too loud at times. Sometimes I think I should have just left the mufflers and resonators. You will have a bit of trouble finding a new exhaust as I understand it, they are in low production, this the used market is also low. Google Speed Cultures Studio exhaust. It isn't really quiet but a list of parts you can get to build a custom that sounds pretty good.

It is a fun car to put some bolt ons, People seem to get cat back, HFCs, long tube intakes, and tune. Some port the upper/lower plenum. I think I will get a tune eventually and call it a day. Enjoy!

 

Yeah, I just found him and I really dig that exhaust note. Probably do that and run the quieter second resonators.

 

Just a quick question. I come from power so I know it's recommended so you can get the most out of your parts, but is a tune necessary with test pipes? This exhaust is just way too quiet so I figured I'd start with those and some drop ins with the silicone tubes and wait on the tune until I'm done with the exhaust completely. Been reading and still trying to 100% figure out if I'm starting there, or do I need to run the rest of the exhaust then hit the test pipes on the way to get it tuned.

 

Test pipes will make the car smell and sound like s**t. A tune is not necessary but it is recommended especially since you will be throwing a CEL.

Best choice is to go with Fast Intentions resonated high flow cats. You will get 9/10 of the performance & and the car will sound much better without the need for a tune (no CEL).

Roger that, I was hoping that she wouldn't get that raw exhaust smell. This thing still smells new inside and I'm going to try and keep it like that 🤣.
