New Owner - 2014 Q60S
I justjust got a 2014 Q60S (I was told these forums are where to post for this model?). My snow tires are arriving next week and I had the unfortunate pleasure to drive home on a highway during a snow storm in which in a few spots an inch or two with ice had accumulated on the all season tires.
At a slight curve, around 35-40 MPH, my back end slipped out and I did a full slide, ended up 180 degrees the other way in the oncoming lane (no traffic thankfully). When I began to slide, almost the entire dash seemed to light up. I didn't get a good look at it though as I was otherwise occupied. I was very impressed with how the car handled the actual slide, not exactly happy it happened to begin with but that's sort of my fault for not having the snow tires on yet.
I'm really new to the car and trying to fully understand what the car did when it realized I was in an uncontrolled slide to assist? If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it greatly!

Most likely the abs and vsc lights all came on and blinked a few times. Computer does a real good job fixing it during the slide but because your tires were iced, it was hard to feel the control. Glad to know you're safe!
Once I came to a stop, it was entirely locked up with the red brake light on. There was traffic oncoming towards me further down the road, so I turned the car off and on to reset it. Looking back, would just switching it into park and then back into drive reset whatever lockdown mode the car was in? Or was the restart necessary?
Getting some Nokian Hakk's to hopefully help prevent this from occuring again. I'm not very experienced driving in this Mountain area in the winter yet (praying the early Spring is true!), so trying to basically learn everything I can to prevent mishaps. With the AWD the way it is on the Infiniti, I was told that, WITH studded Hakk's on, that very slight acceleration would have corrected the situation and prevented a slide. I've personally never driven with studded tires/snow tires before, so I'm not too sure how they react, but does that sound correct? Does the AWD system on the Infiniti react differently than a true full AWD in that situation?
Thanks for all the insight!
