A big thanks to everyone that contributes on here. Throughout months of research before making such a big decision, this forum played a large role in pointing me towards the right car. A car that I've had for six months now and the "new" still has not yet worn off.
In my 20's I had a light blue 1981, 4-door chevy malibu that would do high 13's (mid 12's w/nitrous) and I enjoyed tinkering around with it in the garage. Along with humiliating mustang drivers. My G37 brought both of those back plus it's handling has me looking into nearby tracks. This surprised me considering her curb weight.
So it took a while to find anything but awd here in the midwest plus I am quite particular and cheap. Eventually I came across a 2013 G37S with 64,xxx at a dealership in a rural town 45 minutes away. They mostly sold pickup trucks, everything on their lot was "American" except for the G, which was sadly out of place and had been on their lot for months. It was listed as a Journey Premium. Their key tag didn't even say "sport" or G37S," but the VIN did. After testing it out over a weekend and an inspection I had them deal with my wife. BOOM!
So far I've:
cleaned the throttle bodies
installed tail-as-turn modules from diode dynamics
replaced all interior lights with led's from diode dynamics
replaced city lights with led's from diode dynamics
replaced fog lights with diode dynamics SLF led's
wrapped side mirror covers in gloss black
wrapped the spoiler in gloss black
just started to remove the plasti-dip that the previous owner put on the grill. They did a precise job, straight lines and it was masked off well. But plasti-dip just looks like rubberized frame undercoating to me and it's always a fight to remove.
coming up:
wrap the grill in gloss black
wrap the roof in gloss black
wrap the wheels in gloss black..i don't know..something needs to happen there, but I'm cheap
paint the inside of the headlight assembly
install aluminum subframe collars
install front and rear urethane differential bushings
