Just bought a used 2013 G37x

Hello folks, how's it going? I just bought a used G37x sedan, with 34k miles last week. I really like it. There weren't that many being sold in my area and I wasn't even looking at one when I was shopping for a new car. I used to drive an I30 and I was driving an '03 maxima before this so I know Nissan/ Infiniti is a very reliable brand.

Anyways, I saw it on a Nissan lot and it was in my price range so I took it for a test drive. Even with it being an automatic, it was a lot of fun to drive. It has the premium package and navigation too, and I loved the black and walnut interior. The sound system is okay, suitable for me and better than my Maxima's with one semi-functional sub in it. All in all, I thought it was a great buy and I know Nissan motors can go well over 150K miles without any major problems.

So, what are your guys favorite features of your G? Any suggestions on what modifications are necessary or recommended and which are not?

Anything you hate? Honestly, I'm a little glad it's not a manual because I will be driving this a lot around the city and it sucks driving in traffic with a lot of hills around. The DS manual shift mode is not that great because of the lag but just letting it shift itself in DS is fine, and it's really easy to go fast in this thing!. The regular D mode is very smooth and it feels like a really nice entry-level luxury sedan.

Pics or it didn't happen...

Welcome

There's a reflash available for the transmission to curve it's behavior but not sure if 2013 benefits from it. Can't pair your phone up to play music unless it has nav which is a bummer. Not sure how much of the modding scene you're into but sways will drastically help the handling and body roll of the sedan.

Do you know how much a reflash is? I'm completely broke right now but was thinking of doing that first when I get the money.

Other than that, roll bars are definitely something to look into, although the handling is miles above what I was just driving (an '03 maxima 180K miles in).

For other mods, I was thinking down the line a high flow catalytic converter and maybe some lighter wheels and better tires. There are new Nexen N5000 plus tires on it right now that the dealer put on.

A 2013. Thanks for the link. The only mod I'd want to do to the exterior is up it to 19 inch wheels, maybe a diffuser.

I'll look into those tire recommendations when I need new tires.

This car drives nice. Even with just the automatic in DS mode you can really pop it.

Cost is an Hr. worth of labor but you might be able to swing it for free if you're still under warranty.

Definitely upgrade the rims but I'd recommend holding onto the 17s if you live in a climate that gets snow/Ice and make them your dedicated winter tires. That's my plan at least.

For the exterior, Vinyl wrapping is a common choice that sharpens the look of the car IMO. I'm not a fan of all that chrome but it's a preference thing. You'll get some ideas from browsing the forum on what you might wanna do but my first "mods" were replacing all my fluids; differential, transmission, transfer case and oil. You might notice the car smooth out after just those.

Cool, yeah I just graduated college and am hitting the job market after a week or so break. I'd like to move more south than I am right now (Ohio), but even places like Nashville or Louisville get snow. I dunno we'll see. The bottom line is I'll have to get the wheels after I get a job in my field, and I should be able to save pretty quickly after that.

God there are so many things that can make this car look sick it's insane.

Honestly, I was shopping for a replacement Maxima. A used one around 20-25K was my budget. There were a lot of 2014, 2015 models in that range.

But after I sat in the G37 and test drove it? I was sold. I obviously did my due diligence in valuating the car, reviews on it pros and cons, etc...

But a 2014/ 2015 used Maxima is going anywhere from 18-24 thousand dollars, most with 40+ miles on them.

Why get a Maxima that's a couple years newer but an infiniti g37x fully loaded with 34K miles? Not even a debate.

One thing that swayed me away from the Nissans is that darn CVT. Granted the 7 speed can be a little finnicky, but just change fluids at required intervals and it will last.
