newbie question about coilovers

I've been trying to read about coilovers in the suspension section but it is just too confusing for me.
I just want to get a nice clean drop, not slammed. I don't really race my car.
What are some suggestions?
Do I need to get a camber kit?
I'm looking to spend no more than $800 total
I'm on stock rims right now but possibly will get 19" Vossens in the future.
Any help would be appreciated!

Tein street basis coils for $480 approx from b2autodesign who are a forum sponsor here.
If you like not having to buy tyres every few months get front and rear camber kits. You can buy all of the above for about $1000 Installation Labour + alignment will be the extra expenses

You can shop around for the above part numbers. Maybe you can get it from another vendor for cheaper .

Another quick question, if I'm buying coilovers and not racing in my car, is it better to get springs to save money with a camber kit?
And do I need to get both the front and back cambers?

The Tein Basis Z coils are a mild drop coilover, if you keep the drop on the milder side you "might" get by ok without a front kit, but a rear kit is strongly recommended for just about any drop. Those coilovers only cost a couple hundred more than springs and you can get just the height you want. You can lower your car with the rear kit installed, and monitor your tread wear over 6 months, if the front tires are wearing badly then add a front kit then. Alignments can vary from car to car and each shop gets different results so it's hard to say for certain. If you are handy and have the tools, installation isn't too tough, there's a lot of DIY info here.

if you dont want to slam, you may be better off with a shock and spring combo imo

Just want to close the wheel to fender gap thinking about the street basis c/o setup only really want to lower the car about an inch in the back and 1.5 in the back but I want to buy everything at once so I will need the c/o and spc front and rear camber kit + toe bolt is this everything I will need? And do I need all of that? Or is that too much?thanks guys!

If you run w/ the Basis Z coils and stay at their highest setting you can probably just run the rear SPC arms and rear toe kit. Should set you back about $700. You will also need to include labor if you don't DIY the install and another $125 for alignment. Ideally spending the $350 for the front arms would be best, but many don't and get reasonable tire wear, that's really your call.
