6 Month Driving Impression Update

Bought my 2013 G37 Journey package Sedan in May. Here some driving impressions:

1. The 7 Speed Transmission sucks in stop and go traffic. The shifts are rough, especially the downshifting in first 2-3 gears. It's not smooth at all like a luxury car should be. (Any info on this will be appreciated, any other threads?)
2. The car takes a bit to accelerate. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed? I'm no racer but I've had VW's at a red light take off quicker than my G37 lol.

Other than that, the handling is amazing. In open traffic, no on beats the G.

It's fairly fast and you're right about all these transmission issues. I am dealing with that myself.

You can try adding 93 Octane and it will help - All I know is that when I step on it, you can definitely smell the rubber. It's a quick car but it has it's flaws

I heard adding grounding wires will help with the shifting (7at). I don't know if it's significant enough though hopefully someone can chime in.

Have you tried getting it reprogrammed from the dealer?

Are you driving in the d or ds mode, it'll make a difference. In ds mode it will still shift on its own but pattern shift point and feel are different. I use it all the time.

Yes, to enter sport mode (DS) just pop the shifter to the left and from there, move the shifter up to upshift and down to downshift.

Or you can also leave it flicked left, which will show DS on the dash, and it'll hold gears longer and downshift more readily.

Does anyone else has a weird downshift in DS mode...sometimes when I brake too hard the car downshifts and the acceleration goes all the way upto 7k lol which I find very aggressive

It's by design and described in the manual. If you apply specific force to your brakes, the car will downshift for you to assist with braking and give you lower gear for the corner exit (if that's what you are doing).

Also, if you think the handling is amazing now, put both sway bars on. Even from S the difference was amazing, I can only imagine what it'll feel like coming from a non-sport.

Buy this for the horrible lag in our auto transmissions. It's worth every penny and gets rid of about 85/90% of the stupid lag. One of my better mod investments without a doubt!

I'm still debating on the Ark controller..
How long did it take you to set it up right, Kenny?
I have so little free time these days, it might end up sitting in the box if I can't get it working good within an hour or two.
