CarGuy95's Build Thread

Dear Fellow Gearheads,

While I know you all have seen these threads thousands of times, bear with me with I introduce myself to those who care.

My names Chris, and I'm a 20-year-old University of South Carolina student from Lake Norman, North Carolina, and now the proud owner of a 2011 Infiniti G37 Journey 7AT w/the Sport Performance Package (at least thats what the window sticker says). Current Mods are in the signature, and future mods include short ram cold air intake, ECUtEk tune, and many more. Looking to get more involved in the car scene in Charlotte/Columbia, so if anyone knows of any upcoming events in the area or just want to meet up for C&C, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks, and please give me some patience as I try not to get roasted for being an ignorant newb. Comments are welcome.

Hey Chris welcome to the forum and congrats on the G! If you want to keep this as you're build thread let me know and I'll move it to the correct spot but for now we'll keep it in the introduction section so people get a feel for who you are.

Nice list of mods as well ares future mods. Try looking into the r2c blacked nickel plated short ram intake with the upgraded hex filters. It's absolutely gorgeous and the nicest short ram imo.

As for meets we have a huge one coming up in about 3 weeks up in PA. I know it may be a bit of a drive but will definitely be well worth it and a great chance to meet a bunch of us gear heads from the forum!

I'm looking foward to your progress on the G! Best of luck with it all.

Nice ride! Where did you get the R35 GTR start button? How difficult was the install?

Which Tanabe exhaust is that? Just the axle back?

Thanks!! Will see if I can find the time in my busy schedule to make the trip up. Looking at the R2C intake as we speak, my only concern with the black nickel is how closely it will match my midnight black grille, as that would be more than ideal if it did. Will send you a PM when I feel my car is worthy of its own build thread.

So the R35 GTR button I ordered off amazon, heres the link for that:

https://www.amazon.com/GTR-Red-Start.../dp/B004D0I11S

Install was easy as pie, theres a video on youtube on how to do it, just search infiniti g37 R35 start button install and you should find it.

Also yes that is just the Medallion axle-back from Tanabe. I noticed they make a Y-pipe as well for the coupe, but I havent seen a full exhaust system from them for the sedan. Maybe someone on here can help me out with that, as I would love it if Tanabe made the exhaust a tad bit louder.

Good lookin out! How raspy is that axle back? From most of the videos Ive seen on youtiube it sounds pretty smooth compared to the rest.

Welcome to the site CarGuy, glad you found us!
We'll leave this thread here, but go ahead and start a fresh build thread in this folder, and post a couple "reserved" replies on that thread so you can keep all your progress on the first page as time goes on.

BTW, nice S sedan you found, that sport package w/ the big Akebono brakes is a nice plus for sure!

Very smooth, mostly present around 1k-3k rpms, have had it now for over 500miles so its pretty broken in as well.

Thanks for the advice, will do when I get some more mods rolling. Also I love the big brakes, only drawback is the squeal they make when they're cold. Im pretty sure theres no fix for this, as far as my research goes, but they are still well worth it over the basic stock rotors.

Not sure about the type of oem pads on those big brakes but I had similar problems with the Brembos on my SRT that look almost identical. Switched to semi metallic hawk racing in the fronts and ceramics in the rear and I get barely any dust and they are dead silent.

Will give this a try when it is time to get the rotors turned. Thanks for the tip
