new (almost) owner!

Hey guys! Excited to join the club (soon anyway)!

Just wanted to ask a quick question before picking the car up this Friday:

Is the Infiniti extended warranty worth it? The dealership is offering it for around $1500 for an extra 3 years of bumper to bumper coverage available at any Infiniti dealer.

Thanks for the help and I'll update this thread once I have my baby home

I have it and I am pretty happy with it. Makes me have a peace of mind when unexpected things happen.

I got the 4 year unlimited mileage bumper to bumper one. Cost was $1900. I am glad I have it but have recently thought about getting the prorated amount back so I can add more mods to the g haha

If your G is prior to 2012 it could pay for itself quickly if the timing gasket fails, 2012+ have been pretty good, and all Infiniti Gs are way above average in overall reliability.
Hard to say if it's worth it or not on a 2012+ but hate to tell you not to get it then you have troubles
Welcome to the site and hopefully you'll be official soon.

That's what's weighing on my mind. I could really use the peace of mind but ponying up the extra funds to pay for it would take that right away haha

Do different dealers offer different deals? Or does 4 years cost an extra $400?

Thanks for the welcome! I am getting a 2012 and have heard nothing but good about their reliability, main reason I chose getting one. Got a kinda funny story about it but I'll get to that later I suppose. Car cost $24k, has 33k miles for reference.

Thanks for the input!

I have no idea what different dealers offer. My g37 purchase was literally a spur of the moment thing. I woke up one morning, returned my mazda to stock, drove down to the dealer and bought one I liked. I was shopping for a new vehicle and was going to buy an suv and look what I ended up with lol

Welcome to the forum! Always nice to see another soon to be east coast G owner!

I'd personally get it for sure once you average that extra $1500 into the monthly payments you're talking only dollars extra a month for peace of mind.

Haha similar thing happened to me. I was searching for beater cars around $4-5000 and said you know what? **** it I wanna get a grown up car for my grown up job and don't want to worry about maintenance and of course wanted some luxury.

I used to have a 1998 QX4 and man I loved that thing. Awesome awesome truck. So I thought I wanted an SUV, since I love Nissan/Infiniti I looked at some FXs. I loved the 2009+ body style but realized the price was too much for me. Started looking at 2004-2008 and read about some issues they had as well as maintenance costs (mainly tires and brakes!). But I went to my local Infiniti dealership and test drove a 2013 FX37. Salesman was super chill, just wanted to go along for the ride, and explained to me that the G37 was essentially the sedan version of the car. I always liked Gs but never considered them because I haven't been that low to the ground since my 1990 Honda Accord. My mom drives a Jeep so I'm used to SUV king of the road status!

Anyway we start talking about my needs and wants for a car and come to the conclusion that a G37 better suits my needs, especially for my commute. So I go home and start looking. Come back to that same dealership and test drive a 2009 G37. I liked the facelifted version better but this was closer to my range at first. That had heavy steering and wasn't as clean, center console and window trim were peeling. Started talking about numbers and the salesman found a few 2011+ Gs that would be great buys.

So talked to my bank, got a slight increase in my budget, and fell in love with this 2012 G37. Liquid Platinum, black leather, tinted windows. Super clean, inside, out, and underneath. I'll be picking it up Friday

Thank you! I'll be working in LI and commuting from CT pretty soon and needed the ultimate luxo-cruiser to get me through it. Only for a couple weeks though before I move to Long Island.

I'll def keep that in mind!

This...^^^

Insurance and warranties are based on probability...they make money based on fear.....but the probability of you having problems to warrant the cost is unlikely. Now if you owned a BMW the probability is high you will have a problem....
