so I don't know if this is the right place for an introduction but I wanted to properly introduce myself.
My name is Frank and just graduated school, gonna be starting work in NY soon.
First car was a 1990 Honda Accord, got it with 56k original miles, ended up having to sell it after some black ice put me in a guard rail. Had 80k when I left it and looked like this
Then got a 1998 Infiniti QX4 as a little birthday present to myself after saving up and fell in love with the brand and it's quality. Got it with 126k and unfortunately had to get rid of it with only 134k
So now I finally brought home this! 2012 G37, 33k, my commuter car. I originally wanted and FX37 but realized SUV maintenance and gas wouldn't be ideal for me. Found this at my local dealership and it was on my radar for over a month! Waiting almost killed me. Before I graduated my girlfriend even made me this!
But picked it up today and I love it! Got everything all connected up, put my tools inside, car is fast and so smooth, I am obsessed.
finally home
So original owner tinted it up (which I was going to do anyway) but that's all I plan on doing for now. Has new tires on it, I'll invest in snow tires/wheels later. Not sure what else I'd want to do. Want to keep it as luxo-cruiser as I can, just my solid daily for a long time to come.
Welcome to the forum Frank and beautiful G sedan you got yourself there! Best of luck with your future job in NY and very nice introduction! I really like what your girlfriend made for you as well lol
Now I can officially welcome you with your own thread.
Congrats and look forward to seeing what you do w/ your new ride!
Thank you thank you! and Thanks for moving the thread

Thank you! Couple little scratches but overall really clean for being a Northeastern car. Was a 1-owner lease so I'm happy to keep it alive and running.
Yea, I'm kind of a child and love Toy Story. Buzz Lightyear's quote was the title of my photo album for the QX4 and thought it was fitting for the graduation theme.
Here's some pics I took today. Got my front windows tinted:
Went for a few hundred mile round trip to Jersey to see my girlfriend last weekend and the G loved it! Ate the whole trip up! Suffered in NYC traffic for a bit both ways but kept cool the whole time, even in the hot sun. Cruising on the turnpike at 80mph was easy. My mom loved the A/C, blows so cold, and how quiet it is (no wind noise, very little road noise), and the sound system! Previous owner left some motown music on the music box haha
Different story when the windows are down though because I love the sound of the engine and exhaust! Always like to let it whine out a bit
Decided to get the front windows done because I actually got sun-burn on the drive down on my arm and face through the windows, plus it helps my vision at night. Headlights aren't so bright in my side view mirrors with tints.
Next up, I'll be saving for some good snow tires (probs blizzaks?) but wondering about some new wheels? Got any suggestions? I was thinking of keeping my current tires on these OEM rims and getting good snow tires on some other cheap (not steel) wheels, but I may be persuaded to find some new summer wheels for my current tires and use the OEMs on snow tires during the winter. My current tires are Yokohomas 225/55 R17. Want to find a wheel that fits that size preferably. Any difference in ride quality between 17s and 18s? Really trying to not sacrifice looks for fear of hitting a pothole and buying bigger tires.
Been looking at all the wheel pics threads and really want something in a dark gunmetal grey (trying not to go black because I want to keep the semi-luxury look, not murdered out like my previous cars). Some shiny aluminum wheels might look nice too, I really like these OEMs actually. I also don't want to have to get spacers or any other fitment related things, just want some wheels that'll bolt right up! Unsure on a budget, just want to find some wheels I like then save up for them after I start work. Any suggestions please let me know!
Many Sedan guys get the OEM coupe 19s, and some have had them painted gunmetal, they look really good and if you get lucky you can find sets on the classifieds here for nice prices. Here's a link to my 18" Wedsports that I'm really happy with, lightweight, made in Japan, and have a nice concave style. https://www.myg37.com/forums/18/2765...ml#post4044919
Also check this thread, VenomGT is the man when it comes to finding killer deals on quality used sets, check the last 5 pages or so on this link https://www.myg37.com/forums/private...ation-etc.html
HTHs,

Hey guys, long time no post! Few little updates over the past few years. Will have to get more pics when weather gets better. Currently at 93k miles, originally bought with 33k. No major issues, replaced 2 wheel bearings so far. Had a minor accident where I hit a curb from being a dummy and sliding but all fixed and running perfect. Future plan is to just keep it running as a reliable daily. I'm fixated and obsessed with the Jaguar F-Type so saving all car money for that as the toy. Goal is to replace what breaks with OEM+ to keep this on the road for 100k more miles! Being in the Northeast rust has taken its toll and I have to figure out a plan for my cats. They are rusted to hell and I have the infamous rattle. Will be visiting the exhaust shop again to see if there's a temporary solution while I debate on getting HFCs. Need to think about volume and emissions, if I go down that route I'll be getting an ECUtek tune most likely to make the most of it. Any idea what I should expect power wise?
Here's what I've done:
Got the drilled/slotted rotors from Rockauto with Akebono pads currently. Old original rotors warped so decided to upgrade. Totally didn't need drilled/slotted but they look cool, will return to solid once these need replacing.
Replaced original Yokohama Advans with Continential DSW06. Don't notice too much difference but the Contis have great road noise and are wearing nicely. Grip is excellent as well! Depending if I get a set of summer wheels, I will likely keep these on the stock wheels until I can get dedicated snow tires.
Added fake carsmo silver ***** for the volume, tuning, and HVAC controls. Love the look and matches my silver interior trim.
Replaced start button with red GTR button for added 10hp.
Replaced interior lighting, glove box, and trunk with LEDs
Replaced OEM fog lights with Diode Dynamics yellow LEDs
Replaced OEM grille with eBay Midnight Grille, now need to touch it up as rocks have effed me
Got Z1 silicon hoses for the air intake
Replaced plastic splash shield with TBW aluminum under shroud
Replaced OEM air filters with K&N drop-ins
Replaced OEM battery with Home Depot Exide battery, 750CCA, 24F
Replaced rusted front cross member with new OEM
Replaced rusted rear suspension member with new OEM
Replaced rear sway bar with OEM RWD sway bar
Replaced rear end links
Replaced OEM exhaust with Invidia Q300 cat-back
Resprayed front bumper due to rock chips and thin paint
new Invidia catback, new RWD rear sway, new rear susp member Titanium Tips rusty cats front cross member rusty front cross member LED fogs and beat up front bumper before I had it re-sprayed
Welcome to the forum. CB7 fan over here, back from 2006-2012 cb7tuner.com member. Quite the upgrades these cars are.
They can be great cars unfortunately mpgs are not on their side but they make up with the power, once it's tuned it will be a whole different beast.
As for the rust there is not much you can do. Maybe some soak baths of vinegar will help eliminate the stains to help you concentrate on the stuff on the nasty stuff.

oh nice! I loved cb7tuner! Was on there from like 2010-ish to 2012 when I had to sell the old girl. Loved those cars though, pretty peppy and easy to work on. Hopefully I will keep this G for a long time to come, have no plans to sell in this rough market.
Ha, I love it! I was on cb7tuner back in 05,06 myself. Had a 90 that I turbocharged with the first gen talon manifold, turbocharger, injectors, bov and a Saab side mount intercooler... sometimes I miss the old girl.. but I love my g!

No way, the good ol DSM manifold. Man what times where those. The whole Florida vs Cali accord of the month. Great times in that Forum!
finally got the exhaust all done! Went with Invidia Q300 cat-back and Fast Intentions HFCs. Well worth the 3 month wait! Question though, should I be in any rush to get it tuned? The plan was ECUtek done by RT Tuning who's local to me. I am all done with "performance" mods. Just did the K&N drop-in intakes and don't plan on doing anything else. The tune would be less for power gainz and more for just making sure I'm getting the most out of everything. Plus the different maps are of interest to me (eco, kill switch, power, etc.)
Unfortunately I still have a noise I can't quite figure out, think it might be my TBW under shroud since I couldn't re-install all the bolts due to slight fitment issues. Can't replicate the noise while idling in park but is loudest during a cold start. If you listen here it comes up at :12-:15 and slightly again at :30-:32. Cannot figure it out and it's driving me crazy! Car is at the shop now because exhaust place had to fix a rattle in order for the mech to diagnose the sound. Any thoughts?
installed Maxima paddle shifters and a sport gas pedal, such an easy DIY thanks to this site!
De-chromed my side trim (came out just ok, not pic worthy) and I cleaned up my headlights using a 2-step Meguiar kit. not terrible before but noticeable after using the product passenger side before passenger side after
