Introducing Myself (pics inside)

Just picked up a 2011 CPO G37 Coupe. This is a second car as I also have a 2014 is250 (not a fan).

Reason for the buy? Lexus is slow.... slow technology...slow speed....slow everything.. Coming from a 335 coupe prior to this I wanted something comparable. G is white/black..

First thoughts - I hate the rims, must be changed ASAP. I have always seen the chunky stock looking rims on the G's or the sport ones never these. To be honest not even sure how infiniti has the line up.. Base, Mid, Sport? I have Nav, Power tilt wheel, Back up sensors. Not sure of other options these have as I only looked at this 1.

Seats are very comfortable but with that comes cracking leather and some signs of age. Been doing a few searches on how to repair this or even prevent it from happening further. Leatherique seems to be #1 so far.

I bought the car with a huge gash (pic below) around the shifter area.. Apparently is going to be replaced but I did a quick search on the forum and noticed there are quite a few for sale, not sure about install but can't be too hard.

Can handles differently then expected but very smooth. Thinking of dropping it an inch or so may make a slight difference, use to feeling the ground in my BMW.

Lastly as per the dealership I should only use a hand car wash---- figured that out the hard way as I have some leaking on the pass. side. My thoughts are window was replaced.

Thinking of some minor mods but its so cold in NJ right now I have no desire to do sh*t. Thinking of vinyl roof, rims, lowering. More cosmetic. Any suggestions are appreciated

Some pics of the G and the IS, whites my favorite color

Welcome! Lots of great information on here.

I'm a sedan'r but I don't recognize those rims at all.

Why keep the IS if you don't like it?

Agree on handwashing only though your color will hide things better than the black obsidion. Plus (from what I've heard) Nissan/Infiniti has some of the hardest clear coats out there. So you should have a nice hard shell to work with. Took a long time to get some deep scratches out of my paint. It's some pretty hard stuff. Welcome, and look forward to seeing the mods.

Flakman, maybe your G was repainted~Infiniti clear coat is very soft and swirl/scratch/chip prone, one of the worst I've dealt with, my 07 G35 was the same.

I regress, welcome to the site isosunrise, nice looking G you picked up, congrats!

Why didn't you have the dealership buy your lease out before getting the G37? Or look at a few more before. Thats what they are there for; to negotiate and help you out. Congrats on the purchase, always a fan of white myself and I really like the Is250, you make it sound like a Camry.

Thanks! IS is upside down, only worth 28k and buy out is 43k way to upside down. And essentially the IS is a camry lol. Its a nice looking car, no power and as I mentioned very slow in more ways then one

I had a 07 is350 and I believe it was a better build then the new IS interior, technology, etc.

Obviously an 07 IS350 would absolutely decimate a '14 IS250....not even a fair comparison bro LOL...

Those early year IS350's were absolute sleeper monsters....they were lightweight and that 2GR-FSE engine was NO slouch in those cars.

from what I understand easy to swirl/scratch and hard clear coat may not be mutually exclusive. Was on some detailing forum. But can't remember exactly where. *shrug* I just know my clear is a b**** to cut and level.

Be careful, our 09s have the "self-healing" clear coat that will float the clear coat when left in the sun for several hours. This actually works for light swirls & scratches but is hard to find compatible polishes and compounds. I've had decent results w/ Maguiars Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish w/ my Porter Cable but YMMV
