New '13 G37xS coupe, question about wheels

Hey,

I just traded in my 2012 3.5 Altima Coupe for a used 2013 G37xS coupe with 17k miles. It's loaded with everything except for the ultra rare tech package. I think I got a pretty good deal, 29.9k for what was originally a 52k car.

Absolutely in love with the car already, even though my Altima was pretty darn quick the difference in handling between the two is simply unreal. Cornering and high speeds in the Altima always felt a bit unsafe, but I'm totally confident in this car. Also no more hated CVT!

I can't figure out if the previous owner did something to the wheels though -- the dealership claimed they weren't dipped but agreed with me that they did seem to be a darker graphite color than stock. They suggested they might be some special edition/optional wheels but I am aware of no such thing. Can anyone tell me if this is not stock or if I'm just imagining things?

It's a sharp looking car but I kind of like the contrast between the black car and brighter wheels that I've seen in pictures of other cars.

Pics are from the dealer's listing and are small but I can get bigger ones tomorrow.

Welcome to the site and congrats on a clean XS.
Those wheels appear normal to me, at least from the pics provided, in person may be more obvious.

Thanks, I think you're right.

The dealer originally had a different set of pics up which seemed to exaggerate the difference between this car and others I had seen, maybe due to different lighting. I guess that put the idea in my head that they were modded, because I just compared these again to other black G37s and it seems to be the same.

edit: came across a 2011 that looks more like I was expecting, but I definitely see some that look like mine, so I guess it is OEM. Not sure what the reason for the difference is as I thought all 2011+ coupes with the sport package had the same wheels.

Wow! Great find! Seems like a very good deal. I have the same it's just called a Q60xS. My wheels are the same as yours with a smokey hue to them. I think they look great and don't show brake dust quite as much as the bright silver. Enjoy your new ride.

Nice car! Wonder why the tires only lasted 17k miles...

P.S. One of your close up pictures (last picture) of the wheels shows that a tire has a chunk out of the sidewall. I would have that looked at for safety. You wouldn't want to have it blowout on you. Perhaps, point this out to the dealer if it was offered as a CPO since that shouldn't pass a CPO inspection.

Previous owner may have painted the wheels or something, but it's light enough where in the picture it seems like no big deal, in person it maybe more visible. It looks as though previous owner wanted to blend in shades of gray to the wheel as the color is not uniform throughout the structure.

Nonetheless it does look quite close to normal

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm at the dealership now and will discuss it with them (also going to get the minor curb rash on that wheel repaired, which is probably from whatever messed up the sidewall).

Yeah I thought it was weird that it had new tires at 17k too, but I saw the Generals had better reviews than the stock Advans. Actually part of why I bought it.

I've also heard good things about the G Max tires. Personally, I'm a continental guy when it comes to tires. Since continental owns general, I approve. When you come due for tires next time around I'd recommend you to consider the continental dws. In my experience it is a phenomenal all season tire.

Wheels

General tires are good but has flaws; too loud and wears quickly in hard cornering. Recommend AS Kumho or Falkans. However, AS Falkans did not wear during runs at Streets of Willow versus Generals which wore quickly. Lol very surprising for AS testing. Second note those wheels come in 2 shades; the other in a dark grey. congrats on your xs
