Talking New Member with lots of ideas and lots of Questions

Hi everyone, so I just bought my 2012 G37X coupe in GG. I had to get the X because of the weather here... I used to have an 08 Mitsubishi Evo X which I loved and drove like it was meant to be driven . But I was done with stick shifts as I commute a lot so I wanted something more comfortable but still fast. So far pretty happy with the car.. the only complain I have is that its not as quick as the Evo off the line. Torque really is a big issue here. If I am on the highway and wanna pass someone I put it in DS and hit the pedal and than I get lots of noise and a min later I start to go faster... In the Evo I hit the gas pedal in 5th gear and I am off... I was wondering if a retune would help resolve this issue and would I need a retune after I get a CAI or Exhaust? cauz I might as well wait if that's the case. I know in the Evo I had to do it that way. But anyways just wanted to introduce myself and looking forward to knowing you guys and hearing your advice.

Welcome to the forum bro i love evos myself lol but i must agree with you with the torque issue on the 7AT. im planning on doing the tune after i get exhaust, just have CAi at moment. just been working on looks. Also there is transmission updates that you could do at a dealer, look it up here on the site, it has helped many people, but anyways good luck and keep us post it!

hey thanks. so which CAI do you have and has it made any difference in the way the car sounds. I actually like the way the stock exhaust sounds but want it to be just a bit louder.. and I will definitely look into the transmission update. and please let me know if you notice any difference with the torque after tune.

Bro I went with the stillen gen 3 CAI well I can't really hear it while driving because I have a muffler delete " which by the way sounds great without spending 1k+ on exhaust lol" I'm happy with it, do a small research specially on install since most likely you'll need to take off front bumper.

Niceeee I have heard some great thing about stillen gen3. I was actually leaning towards that as well. I have also heard some videos of g37 with muffler delete and I do like how they sound but I am scared to do that for some reason... I don't want it to sound rice... And its hard to tell how it would sound in person. But I really need to get some nice rims and lower the ride first. Than comes the CAI and maybe some kind of change to the exhaust later... Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Welcome bud! I totally understand your complaint about the lack of going.. I came from a built 2012 STi, but the 28/29mpg highway is really nice.
