Haven't bought a G yet. Maybe you guys can help me.

Whats going on guys, found this forum literally 8 minutes ago. Im a member on g35 driver and my 350z as well as a few other car forums so im pretty aware of forum rules and hope this is the right spot.

I have not bought a g37 yet because I'm not sure if its worth it. I own a maxima now and ive been searching for 37's.

Test drove an srt challenger and camaro ss last year and went for a spin in an ipl about 3 weeks ago.

Im set on the infiniti but as owners of the car how do you guys rank it up to what else is on the road now. I want a manual coupe v6 or more and we all know thats a limited market.....I cant bring myself to like the ugly 370z.

Pros and cons of the 37?....and do they still have the touring package on these cars....is it still the highest trim.

Im pretty big on modding and I already know nwp..stillen...sparco have a few nice parts for this car

I would like to hear from owners about how they feel about the car after x amount of years

nice.. i just registered in order to respond to you sir. im a new g37s 6mt sedan owner. i purchased the car in May. im 22 years old. I love the car. it really is a true skyline. the new q50 are all automatic and the G is now like the new is300 manual. probably gonna be heavily sought it because its truly a supra in an everyday luxury shell. i must say only grab the 6 speed if you truly are a manual transmission enthusiast like myself.

i plan on keeping the car stock too. i have ran into issues with my car, as with many used cars hence i recommend buying a 2012 since these cars offer 4 years warranty and 5 year power train. i can't speak much for the automatic g but the q50 I've had as a loaner is superb but it is a different transmission from the G. i beat the lving cr*p out of the Q. as for the motor its great! i **** off bmw 335i 535i owners off on the reg. g37s really feels like a mustang, very muscular and rough. they have a similar transmission feel in when initiating the power during gear changes the differential will lag, click, click, and then just KICK like in the new 5.0 6 speed. That car makes ours seem civil. my sedan is extremely balanced on the turns and mainly just 2nd gear slides. it is equipped with lsd which bmw doesn't and the stability control makes everything feel safer.only the s models have the sport brakes, no all wheel drive (x or xS) model come with them. The brakes are the best part of the car, they give confidence and remind me of my friend's 08 TL type S's 6 piston brembo with upgraded pads. and i the way the stock enkeis just barely clear over the calipers is sex.

the car is expensive though some weeks i easily spend $100 in gas. plus my $360 a month car payment its not the most efficient. average 17mpg everywhere! i feel the car is well respected by other brand drivers as well. i raced a 3.8 genesis thinking is was a 2.0 cause of how hard i pull on him. beat a 135i and then got smoked by a tuned e85 135i. hey its gonna happen these bmws once tuned are out of our league, but stock for stock ours is the winner. maybe i would've gotten an auto beamer over auto infiniti IDK! i have never been in the market for an auto. Audi's v6 supercharged S4 m/t and 2014 bmw 640i a/t are some impressive cars i've pull on (highway). idk about buying one without warranty tho (im not talking about extended warranty).

unfortunately for me my car got flooded here in florida just over a month ago and my insurance has told me it didn't total and it is still getting fixed. my issues were a bad hub, and the clutch pedal stopped working on separate occasions. the car was from up new jersey maybe it wasn't used to our miami weather. fluid was flushed and hub was replaced for free and with a q50 loaner vehicle under warranty. my car also made wind noise; they worked on it. my other complaint is about the sport transmission (the manual): it very loud and constanty sounds like the throwout bearing is bad(read that this is normal and dealer says the same). no issues with it other than pedal feel dropping and the need for "flush" according to service manager at dealer(i thought the slave cylinder may have been bad). im SOLD! i LOVE my G, i can't wait to get it back and love how fast it is. the downside is the transmission but you get used to it. its no integer gsr (butter smooth tranny) thats for sure.On the highway this tranny is geared to pull butt. its the Japanese engineering.
.
WAtch
he does an alright job and yes the dash has a favorable adjustment in the G vs.the Q

So you're already having issues even though its 2012? Manual is fine for me, my maxima is a 6spd and my audi was as well...and I hear ya about the brakes. I have 6 piston brakes on mine too and they can stop a train

And I guess I should have specified but im looking for a coupe not a sedan. Will you be keeping yours stock?

yes stock. No my car is 2010. i recommend you get a 2012 to make the most out of factory warranty. when the time comes k/n filters and if my pay significantly increases i would install a stillen supercharger to be in tuned bmw/M3 territory.
my friend bought a 6mt coupe the same week i did. just make sure it comes with the spoiler like his did cause if not it looks girly. (<--my opinion)

6mt only come with the sport package. i come from owning a 2001 gsr sedan. keeping it stock and running soo nice came hand in hand. i larded to appreciate what the engineers have designed and wouldn't want to flaw it with coil overs, wheels, etc. i rode stock height in my integra with stock wheels (enkei blades) and love it. i plan to do the same even if i supercharge. i also enjoy the more matured look the sedan portrays.

coming from a maxima i think you'll make the right choice going into a skyline. seriously rear drive, sport tuned, that kind of stuff just doesn't exist in any maxima.

this might be harder than I thought, I just searched 2 major cities and only found 8 total. only 3 of them are 2011 ranging from $27000-$43000..the rest are 2010

For that kind of money you may want to search for 'new' 2013 G37 coupes. There are still some around. My dealership had them out right next to the newer 2014 Q60's.

PS - saw some ridiculous mileage quotes... on a 300 mile trip last month i got almost 28 miles to the gallon.

the ones at your dealership prob aren't manual. also that price is kinda steep, since i do believe the price is dropping due to the q50 model.
goodluck and if you do find a brand new one 6mt i would jump on it. the warranty by the way is from when the car is purchased so if you are the first owner on a 2013 you rightfully get 4 years from the date of purchase.
i drive like an *ssh*le so i really am getting 17mpg everywhere. the first gear on this car is shorter than the one on my dirt bike lol. i can't make it halfway thru an intersection without having to change gear and if you stay in first to long the shift into second is even more difficult to get smooth. and all that gas is burning.
the q50 prob gets better mpg than a g37 6mt. and is also a terrific car

I dont remember if they were manual. It was Lake Norman Infiniti here in NC. I'm only in mine for 3500 miles so far but had two FX's prior, it seems third gear is the real workhorse for the G like it was for the FX.

yeah the 2013 don't come manual. they eliminated them before the q50 release it'll have to be a 12. so never mind what i said about a new 2013. they're only auto
