Hello from the UK

Seems we like our cars better finished than the US bound versions according to Nissan!

"This is a US-spec car and Nissan’s design centre is working on improving perceived quality for cars destined for Europe, including softer, matt-finish leather, deeper pile carpets and some improved switchgear. There will be dynamic revisions too. Though the basics are already very promising, development engineers at the Nissan Technical Centre Europe at Cranfield, Bedfordshire, are concentrating on fine-tuning the damping and the four-wheel-steer system with the intention of making the G37S more nimble at medium speeds and more stable in high-speed lane-change manoeuvres."

the level of adaptibility of this car is impressive. changes could be due to an already solid luxury presence in europe regarding audi, bmw, and mercedes. thus putting in softer matts, the article also says the base dynamics are "already promising," but europe will get more damping in its car, meaning more subtlety at different speeds, much like a luxury car as opposed to a sport or race car. europe may have a more luxury oriented g37 heading their way, although personally i prefer a more sportier and racier g37 interior and dynamic as tribute to its skyline racing heritage. lol stupidity isnt a regional phenomenon, it is a world wide occurrence!

Isn't just UK. Infiniti is selling cars all over Europe now. Go to mobile.de and look at some German spec G37s. Tell me if you can spot the differences.
It is because Americans are stupid (for the most part) and do not pay as close as attention to car dynamics and details that Europe does. Look at a 2003 Volkswagen Golf. It is built better than a 2003 80 grand Cadillac XLR or even a 2003 Infiniti G35. Europe just does details... over engineer everything lol

I think I disagree with that. Americans aren't any dumber when it comes to cars than Europeans. Americans will not pay the exorbitant prices for cars that Euros pay. (Yes I know OP is in UK but I'm lumping them in with the continent). A G37 costs waaaay more there than here. Ditto any Japanese or American import in Europe vs US. Paying tens of thousands more for the same car, they may expect a higher level of amenities than we'd get on the same model for the outrageous money they pay for the car. If you paid $20K more for your G37 you probably would too. Not because they're any smarter, but because they're paying a lot more for it so it's normal for them to expect more. Manufacturers have to do more in order to compete in that market with European manufacturers who aren't paying trade tariffs to import their cars in.
Having a sharp, precise car isn't as big of a deal to Americans who for the most part drive very slowly and carefully. Need much more quick reflexes and thought processes to drive in a large European city.
It is just different cultures. I am at the point though where I would rather pay the extra cost to own a better built vehicle. If the G37 is tuned differently and finishes are changed for the EU spec cars, then I feel like many of my gripes with this car would be fixed.
AKA the premium level of the car isn't worth the extra cost to many Americans. Our taste pallet is much blander compared to their culture as well. We like big roomy sedans like an Altima or Camry while they like small semi-premium hatchbacks (IE the Golf, which isn't that exorbitantly expensive here).

I Don't think that your taste is bland in the US, FAR from it as I love the cars you have when I visit the US that we don't have here. However I think we demand more from our cars. The roomy sedans are gas guzzlers and our roads don't like big cars. Why would we choose a Golf GTI over a Camry or Altima. Simple! We have narrow twisty roads that are often less than 18ft wide and they have a speed limit of 60mph. A large car would not cut it and large cars here tend to be European, such as the GM offshoots and German Marques.
Also there is a badge snobbery and a premium for this. A Nissan or Toyota is seen as a lower badge than VW or Audi.
Cars are pitched at the consumer market and all markets across Europe want different things, that's the joy of living there. A lot of choice and a lot of difference. The only problem we have in the UK is that if we fancy something different and US or Euro spec we are stuffed as we cannot get them in Right Hand Drive!
