Hi - 2011 G37s Sedan
Hi all,
Yesterday I put a deposit on a one owner white 2011 G37S Sedan from an Infiniti dealer on Long Island. The car has 32,000 miles on it and looks to have every available option including the body kit (not sure if I like the front spoiler?). I have been looking for a G37 for a while and the sedans seem to be very hard to find with a manual transmissiion. The car is in near showroon condition and the dealer is going to throw on a new set of tires.
Back in the mid to late 90's I had a BMW 318ti that I supercharged and did the suspension, wheels and tires. It was a great car but I sold it for a 2003 Subaru WRX wagon in 2003. While the WRX is a good car it just doesn't have the fun factor and precision of a rear drive BMW.
In August 2012 I picked up a 1999 BMW MRoadster with 26,000 miles on it. The car feels like a Go Cart and the straight six is a joy to drive however I only drive it in the nice weather and because it is a 2 seater it is really impractical. Prior to the MRoadster I always owned 4 cylinder cars and was thrilled with the torque of the inline six.
My WRX is my daily driver and has 140k miles on it so I figured it is time to look for a new ride. Along with the G37 I also considered a BMW E46 ZHP 3 series, an E46 BMW M3 and a 2014 Mustang GT. A coworker has a 2009 G37 auto coupe that i've driven a few times and it seemed like a solid responsive car.
I looked for a E46 330 for a while but most had 100k miles or more and there are allot of maintenance issues with the E46's. For the same price as a G37 I could probably have found a E46 M3 however I was concerrned with the cost of repairs and did not want to have to deal with valve adjustments and I really wanted a sedan.
I test drove a 2014 Mustang GT. The motor in that car is unbelieveable and the car seemed to handle ok but had almost no back seat and I really want a car where I can take four adults if I desire.
I plan to use the G37 as my main car. I work from home so when the weather gets bad I just stay home. While I don't expect the G37 to be as nimble as my 3000 lb MRoadster I hope that it willl be an enjoyable ride. My biggest concern is the weight of the G37. I test drove a sedan a few weeks ago and it seemed like a nice ride. I hope it will be reliable and relatively inexpensive to maintain?
