Newbie needs help with window motor
Hi I got an '08 S coupe in Dec. Dealer replaced gauge cowl, steering wheel and both door pulls under warranty:-). But just as warranty dies I developed two problems:
1) passenger window acts like the pinch sensor has been triggered in auto up. I tried reset as per manual several times. A Nissan dealership said it's the motor itself binding and wanted $531 to replace it. (Yeah right!!! $109 for rebuild from Advance. This is same dealer who got me in the door by programming/cutting a refirb key for $40.)
I've read all I can find in forums and am VERY confused! Many seem to have had same problem and most were NOT fixed with a motor. Some said a switch? Others by cleaning of tracks? Can anybody give me a good test procedure so I can isolate this? And can someone point me to a procedure to clean the window tracks? Also can anyone post or email me the electrical diagram and description for this system? I'm an electronics tech so knowing HOW it's supposed to work might help me. I don't want to throw parts at this thing, BTDT, but I don't want to pay 300% markup either!!!
The passenger window definitely takes more effort to manually trigger the pinch feature than the working window. I'd think that wouldn't be the case if the motor itself were at fault. Sometimes it does seem to slow right as it gets to top 8" of travel other times not. Sometimes the thing will work. The problem has gradually developed and worsened.
2) About 4K mi after power train warranty I got that lovely muffler rattle. Im looking at the Megan racing axleback for now. That should leave me free to do HFC's, ETC in the future. I like the sound of them and the tanabes but price is almost double on tanabe. Any feedback on the Megans? What would you folks recommend on a recessionary budget?
Thanks in advance from a dedicated newbie!!!

I fixed the window. A judicious application of silicone spray to all gaskets and tracks i could reach and a wipe with microfiber and Viola!! I wonder how many people have gotten screwed this way into major repair bills and multiple returns to dealers?
Also there is a complete service manual posted here on the forum ;-). Hate the PDF but hey it's free right.
I ordered an Invidia cat back instead of just an axle back. Didn't want a lot of volume just deeper tone, and I don't want rasp when I add HFC's. Got the whole thing delivered from Import Parts Pro for $890. They did not have it in stock and ordered direct from manufacturer for me. That worried me after reading what happened with a Megan group buy here, But they have a cancellation policy after 8 days so I decided to give it a try. Bret the sales guy said it'd be about three days to get an order shipped. That was Monday. Got my tracking number Tue and delivery scheduled Fri. Me happy! What service :-)))
