2010 6MT Coupe 200 Miles = PROBLEMS ALREADY

So I just got the car less than a week ago and I really love the car but I am a little disapointed right now with all the problems.
- When I first bought the car it had a small play in the shift ****, like you could feel the engine movements through the shifter.
- Second day I take the car for a spin and a really loud whinning, like if you are going in reverse mode starts in the car when you are in first gear. It gets soo loud at times.
- Tonight I realise that when you are driving and hit the accelerator the shifter moves back a little bit, then when you let go of the accelerator the shifter sort of pops out of place a little bit but it does not get out of gear.
- I know I have to take it to the dealer, I will on monday, But I want to hear your inputs first! Lemon?
- Also is it normal than while going Wide open throttle and you shift quickly from second to third and so forth you hear a bang coming from the motor?

1. play in the shifter is normal.
2. Whining? like... gear whine?
3. play in the shifter is normal
4. feel free to take it in; the dealers have no incentive to deny warranty work, and every reason to do some
5. It's the diff. Stop dumping the clutch and/or stop flat foot shifting. Breaking the diff is not covered under warranty.

Mike, thanks a lot for the quick answers man.

Well I gotta say, two cars ago I had a 2005 cobalt SS supercharged with ever mod you can get, it was pretty quick and it never did that sound and I used to change gears the same way when going WOT, but I guess I have to relearn my driving style since this is a different machine.

and yeah the sound its like gear whine, only in first gear, like a supercharger sort of it doesnt even let me hear the motor at 3k RPM. its the loudest from 2 to 3500rpms.

The whine shouldn't be excessive. Every G I've seen with an excessive gear/nasally whine has gotten either a new trans and/or engine under warranty at some point.

It's not necessarily a bad thing

Since you came from a FI car, the need to flat foot shift is not there at all in a G. Don't do it unless you want the car to break prematurely... no boost here

Is this your first MT car? ; shift **** play is normal, and first gear is a bit louder than other gears.

Everything you described is normal AFAIK. The shifter on this car is more active than on most cars (Car and Driver has lambasted it for years for this). I got tired of the weak clutch and NVH of the MT G37 so I opted for the auto this time around...

I special ordered a different brand car that when it came in the manual transmission whined. They had 2 other similar models, just different colors, on the lot and neither of those had the whine, so I refused to take the one I ordered and took one that was on the lot.

You're not supposed to be speed shifting (keeping the gas floored while depressing the clutch and shifting gears)any car let alone a brand new one that has a required break in period.

Well, I thought I knew how to drive stick after owning a manual car for over three years as my daily driver.but I guess not lol. Break in period? No thanks, I do know about it 1000 miles okay but it's a lease for two years and I really cant help myself, however I will still be careful with the hard shifting because I do not want to break somethi they would not cover under warranty. I am so pissed I bought a car with a messed up tranny; how long should it take them to get and install a new one? A week?
