lighter wheels, eco tires filled with nitrogen, keep tire pressure high. smaller wheels will do the trick too.
as far as driving, i am actually surprised how good fuel economy is on highways, but it sucks in stop and go, so basically when you drive in the city, try to predict signal timings, and avoid stopping. dont rev.

Gas prices will only go up. Burn it while you got it!
I commute just under 100 miles a day and enjoy every gas-burning second of it. Can't wait for the CARB approvals for Stillen and GTM. I wonder what FI does to the gas mileage?

ok, people are searching for ways to increase gas mileage by mods...well let me ask this: will mods DECREASE my gas mileage? and i'm just talking BASIC stuff like intake and exhaust. if i do these mods and (hopefully) get increase hp can i AT LEAST keep my mileage?
also, is there that big of a performance difference between the stillen gen 2 and 3 intake? i know the gen 3 is supposed to be supper good, so is the gen 2 even worth getting?

On a second note, if everyone is so concerned about gas mileage, why buy a G37 to start with

probably. i'm not really a tuner i just like having a car thats somewhat unique. most of my knowledge is in electrical anyway, but if i'm gonna spend a grand on intake and exhaust and get a 5hp or even 20hp gain but loose 3 miles a gallon i may consider not doing it. if i wanted a car taht got 13 mpg city i'd have bought a v10. i use my car every day, but not on the track. just looking for a little guidance from people who know

No one has mentioned a simple mod-- change to a higher aspect ratio tire to increase your gearing. So if you've got 40 series tires go to a 45 or 50. It will throw off your speedo a bit, it might even screw up the VDC, but it should increase MPG and decrease acceleration. And like everyone said, also decrease your wheel size and buy a super light weight yet strong wheel.

It will throw off your speedo a bit, it might even screw up the VDC, but it should increase MPG and decrease acceleration. And like everyone said, also decrease your wheel size and buy a super light weight yet strong wheel.
Throwing off your speedometer and screwing with the VDC can have very high dollar associations when you have to fix them (or pay the ticket cause you are going faster than you thought)
And the cost of a super light yet strong wheel is on the high end of aftermarket wheels and the money you will save on gas would take about 15 years to make up the cost of those wheels. Now granted I paid a lot for my wheels, but I didn't try to tell myself it was for gas mileage.

You just have remember your correction factor of 2-3 mph! I don't know if there's a problem with the VDC but there certainly could be. Can anyone chime in with factual info there? Here's a lightweight reasonably priced wheel from the tirerack for the G coupe. It only weighs 18 lbs, not sure how much the stock wheels weight, but they're probably more than that.
