Noob Beeping Noise Question

When I stop the engine and open the door, the car makes a repeating beeping noise until I get out and shut the door. With a regular car key on most cars it beeps until you remove the key. I know it's probably a warning to remind me to bring the key fob with me, but it's annoying.

Is this normal? Is there any way to stop it from doing this?

So if I want to stop, cut the engine, open the door and wait, there's no way to turn it off without getting out, shutting the door and getting back in?

hmm...I think my only does this when I open the door before I shut off the engine. If I shut of the engine first and then open the door it doesn't do this if I remember right.

I do it every day. When I come home with groceries, have people in the back seat that have to squeeze out, etc. It doesn't stop when I get out, it doesn't stop until I shut the door. Very annoying design.

oh.. that doesnt sound normal.

i've only had people in the back seat maybe once or twice but it never beeped at me.

actually, now that i think about it, there have been times when i have shut off the car, opened the door, and sat in the driver seat for a second or two while i typed out an email or text message on my phone and the car still didnt beep at me.

bboy is right. If you stop the engine before you open the door, it shouldn't make any beeping. If you are doing it this way and it is beeping something is wrong and you should have it looked at by the dealer. Are you certain that you aren't opening the door before shutting it off.?

I may be opening before I shut it off. I'll check when I leave work for the day. Hope that's it.

It should only beep at you if you have the engine running and actually exit the car with the key fob on you. I think it's there to warn you so you don't accidentally walk away with the engine running... which makes me wonder how some people on this forum managed to do exactly that without realizing it.

My car randomly does this as well. I will park my car, press the button to turn off the engine. Then once I open my door it will begin to beep a fast continuous beep until I get out of the car and close the door. Then the beeping stops. I have been trying to pin point if theres a specific reason why this is happening(perhaps headlights on- but i have headlights set to auto on/off) but can't come to any real conclusion. And this is not an every time thing. Just very random.

I have to bring my car to the dealership to get some stuff fixed(got broken into), so im going to tell them to check this out too.

Is anyone elses temperature gauge off? Mine constantly displays an outside temperature that is anywhere from 6-10 degrees higher then what it really is outside.

Oh, you're right – it will also beep at you if you leave your headlights in the ON position (but not AUTO)!

If it's happening randomly then it's a good sign that something is wrong...

Well I tried it after work today and it does beep if you open the door before you shut the engine down. It's fine if you shut it down then open the door. I usually open the door about the same time I cut the engine which is why it seemed to do it sporadically.
