Thoughts at 400miles

Well - it's been a week and 400miles since I traded my 2002 E55 for the G37, and the smile hasn't left my face! Guess it's apparent, since I usually drive less than 200 miles a week

Some quirks that I've discovered and validated through other threads in the forum:

- unable to load MP3 to the hard drive; a bit disappointing but bought a I-pod Nano and it's working just dandy (and sleeps when I shut down the ignition).

- adaptive cruise control; Hawaii is not the place for this feature...even on the least sensitive setting it's always braking and accelerating - but, who cares? This car is more fun to drive then have the cruise control take over.

- NAV; the legal disclaimer and it's inability to store current location are a bit fustrating, but overall it's well done and on an island don't really need it anyway

- jamming my golf clubs in the trunk was a bit of a challeng; had to remove the woods from the bag and it works fine...but wasn't expecting it to be quite so tight.

- mpg is a bit low...but gotta pay to play

- absolutely love the steerable headlights!

- only things I really miss from the E55 are the low-end torque and stowage capacity....but am thinking somewhere down the line a TT or blower set-up may be in the works, or I'll just get used to going a bit deeper into the pedal

Going to get it tinted this afternoon...unfortunately limited to 35%...but won't be able to post pix until after I give it a bath.

Here's it's current state:

gan78 - I prefer "modernized" to downgraded...6YO W210 E55 still had plenty of reliability and power left, but nearly none of the amenities of the G. Honesly I would've loved to stay with MB...but CL550 would need a new mortgage as would the SL55 that I'd prefer, CLK55 doesn't have the features...the ride comfort and handling in the G is superior to my former ride...but yes the deed has been dond

can you elaborate on this? i can store a current location by pressing either the OK button on the dais or the SELECT button on the steering wheel, then select "STORE LOCATION".

I use a technique to keep this from happening and also get better gase mileage. If you are approaching a car quickly, you can press the cancel button as you approach before the ICC sensor sends the signal to brake. As you coast up behind the vehicle and are closer to it's speed, you presss the resume button. It won't run you right up close and then hard brake. yes it's more involved but it works and it saves a lot more gs then braking hard does.

Why doesn't your Nav store your current location? Mine does...

Glad you're loving the G!

Talking Love the Ride......

I only drive about 250 miles a week, but when I do, it's heaven!! Only complaint is the useless Voice Command system. After Infinity made the little switch, the voice commands system is really useless. It works great in my Acura, so I thought I'd be getting the same thing..not But, that's minor, overall, have no complaints with little less than a 1000k miles thus far.

Will play with it some more...up to this point I've been trying to store a new location (other than home) and it asks me for the house # and won't match the house # to a street....thanks for the feedback

Hey chuck have you seen the little animation in the trunklid about storing Golf Clubs? I didn't at first and lowered half the backseat to fit them... Then after our round of 18 my buddy pointed it out to me.... LOL! Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the Forum!

Thanks guys! The store current location works fine and editting the address book, now the darn car barks when I get near work :P Gotta luv it!

I have examined the drawing in the trunk for the clubs...but didn't have time before the round last week to screw with it, and didn't want to expose my dorkishness in public after the round - so went with the wood removal option - will go into reattack this weekend!

Be well!
