About to Be new owner LOTS of questions

So my wife is stuck on the G37 and i am currently on deployment so I found the Military Auto Source and I can custom order my G37 through the factory and only pay invoice. Seriously not a penny over dealer invoice. So needless to say we are getting one but I have saome questions.

My wife wants the 6 spd but i am concerned about the seats and the ride of the sport model....do those 19's and summer tires and the suspension make it ride like it's on rails??? I am all about the luxury and the power not so much the TUNER look??? what do you guys think about ride quality and compfort of the racing buckets versus the Journey seats.

Second question, is it better to have the automatic or the 6mt? I am all about style and the 6my would be sick but the paddle shifters seem just as effective for grabbing gears if you want to with a lot easier driving in traffic? How are the paddles for quick shifting?

Third is how are these so called summer tires in the rain and how are they on the tred life.....???

I love my sport seats.. never sat in the journey though.. the 19's and bigger brakes were totally worth it for me as well. I obviously have a biased opinion toward the sport, but I love the ride and the over all looks of the Sport model over the Journey.. Like a saw mentioned in another post.. "I've heard people say damn, I should've gotten the Sport," but never heard anyone say, "I should have gotten the Journey instead." I'm also more a 6mt man myself. Makes me feel more in control.. lol.. (lame I know) even with stop and go traffic in L.A. shifting gears has never bugged me in any of my cars..

I have a 6MT Sport. The seats are definately sporty and I wouldn't exactly call them comfy but they are supportive. The tires and suspension of the sport are great, very responsive handling. The treadwear on the summer tires is horrible but they do have great grip in dry conditions, only so so in wet. As far as the transmission, there is never even a discussion to be had IMO about MT vs AT, but if you think that the paddle shifters might be a suitable alternative then it sounds like the AT might be for you. There is not an AT made that is the same driving experience as a MT. Not even with paddle shifters. Even with an AT the G37 is a great car.

I have 5AT with Paddle shifters, its fun enough for me, I can shift when I 'want' to and throw it in D when I don't. The ride is stiff, can't compare it to the non-S model only put 2-3 miles on it so I'm not sure how it rides compared to Sport model. Do yourself a favor a take a test drive before you order.

I've driven the Journey model ... but I own the 6MT version.

If you are all about lux then get the Journey. 6MT is a lot more involved and the seats / suspension is quite firm, even for a 'lux' car. Go with the Journey, save a few bucks (put it towards mods) and call it a day.

I totally agree with above statement, but the one difference is that I am a female and I love the sport and also driving the 6MT. There are a couple of woman on here also that have the 6MT and from the previous posts about the 5AT or 6MT they would not trade it for anything. I say tell your wife and yourself to get the Sport 6MT, both of you won't be sorry.

My wife is going to do a test drive soon to make sure what SHE prefers since it'll be her driving the car the most. I think the SPORT is the way to go after hearing all the posts....especially since we will not be doing any mods to the car....it'll be a stocker for life but i wouldlike to have the cooler looks and the bigger wheels. The seats and the ride are the only issues and since we live in San Diego where the roads are crappy with all the concrete seams that ride quality really matters....she'll just have to make the choice and we'll go with it....excited to get the car on order. Should be soon!!! we'll be picking it up in Noverber.
