Mr Wash Carwash scratched my rims!

So i pulled into the alexandria mr wash carwash on N. Van Dorn street today to get all the salt off my car from my recent upstate NY trip. When I was pulling up to the rail, the guy kept telling me to go straight, and then i heard a loud clanking noise, and then he said to turn right and pull up. The noise made me nervous, so I reversed, pulled in again, and same thing happened, except this noise was REALLY loud and the car stopped in its place. I immediately backed out and demanded a refund.

Then, I got out of the car and checked for damage, and sure enough, the front driver's side rim was severely scratched, the pieces of material were still powdered around the scratch site. I went up to the wash area, and asked for the manager. I explained that the rail scratched my rims, and he, basically ignoring me, said in broken english about there being plastic so "no scratch." I was like "umm, yeah there is a scratch, come and take a look, you're the manager." He basically REFUSED to look, despite standing there and telling him for about 15 mins that his rail scratched my rims. Meanwhile, another staff member who was spraying cars approached and said that the rims were already scratched. I was like "how in the hell would YOU know without even looking at the scratch on my car?" To make a long story short, they were impolitely yelling in broken english about how it was already scratched, and refused to allow me to speak to someone higher than them. The "manager" then gave me a phone number which is the Mr. Wash central line apparently, but nobody was available, so I left a brief message. What do you think is the best course of action so that these scumbags pay for the damage to my rim? All the rims on my car were UNSCRATCHED...i just got the car a few months ago, and I know there were no scratches. Besides, i could see the powdered metal all around the scratch which means it was fresh. Any advice?

Judge Judy !!!! I'd try to call the central help line, doubt that's helpful. Gather some evidence, go back , take picture to see if this plastic bumper they said was actually there or not. Then take their a$$ to court . Sorry to hear about your rims, I hate shady people

I am sorry to hear that. if it is a car wash with those rails that you drive between then your car goes through. How do you plan to get them to do anything. You are at your own risk. But i guess it's worth a try .the dude who guided you in though woulda got an *** kicking.

I used to go to Mr Wash or Dr. Wash or whatever they call themselves. They They change their names more than P. Diddy. I went there when I first moved here w/ my old car and they did not do a good job on washing or cleaning my wheels. Also, in my entire life, I have NEVER driven my car upto the rails, I ALWAYS stop and let them vacuum and drive it up and I stay out there to watch them do it too.

If you are looking for a new Car wash, I personally suggest going to Tackets Mill Car Wash. It is located in Woodbridge/Lake Ridge area. I dont know how far of a drive it would be, but I get my car cleaned there all the time and you wont here any broken english either. I have 19x9.5's on the back and I have never had a problem. But sorry to hear about your wheels though. Even though, you are at your own risk, I would have kicked there A$$ just for the hell of it or threaten to call INS . I am sure they would have changed there tune real quickly.

My friend also had their rim scratched from Mr.Wash at the Gallows Rd establishment. However, they got management to write a Vehicle Incident Report, they even took a polaroid for an investigator to review.

Long story short, Mr. Wash never anted up. Just file report with the BBB.

I agree with you 100%...but that was back when I was in undergrad when I had more time to devote to washing the car, etc. Nowadays I cannot do that...so in order to keep things clean I have to resort to using automatic washes. Being new to this area, I dont know all the possible places to take it, and saw Mr Wash so I took it there. I was weary about the rails...and now I know not to take it there ever. BUT, I still have a scratched rim.

Sorry to hear about your rims but it's going to be hard for you to get anything from them since you were driving the car. Personally I would never take my car to a car wash like that. There's always a big risk of scratching a rim with those metal guides on the ground. Try to find a self wash place if you can.

I love those self-wash places, and thats where I used to take my I30 to when I was living in Laurel last year. However, driving around Alexandria and surrounding areas, I dont see ANY of those self-wash bays that seem to be popular in places that I'm not living in. Anyone know of any around here?

You could've kept the car parked at the entrance while you argue, so that NO ONE could enter....no business for them. I'm sure that would've motivated them to be more helpful.

Sucks bruh. I go to this place off of Rt. 1 in Woodbridge near Prince William Pkwy. So far so good, although I don't know where I got my rim scratch

Yeah i am familiar with Laurel.Yeah just yesterday i backed out of a drive through because i didn't want to risk rubbing my rims.I was tunning in and they make them just wide enough to get a ridding lawnmower in comfortably.
