Thanks for correcting me mr. Jesus Silva .. but what i meant by 35 is the max you can go in VA ... meaning that u can get 35% tint without being hassled by the cops .. i know 50% is legal in VA

5% limo tint.. Thats crazy, Im just getting used to these tints, I'm adjusting to the fact that its a lot harder to back into a space now that when I ddint have the tints, esp at night. Next mod is the system, Im thinking of zenclusures box, and maybe two alpine Type R's. But that might be too much, not for another 2 months atleast though.

I heard from somewhere the legal tint was 50% ? and the cars alrdy came with like a 5-8% buffer or something like that. Couldn't really understand it when my tint shop was explaining it.

Maryland's legal tint is 35% all around and I think 5" on the top of the windsheild? Something like that. VA is 50% on the fronts and 35% on the rears. You can see all the laws on TintDude:

Warmer states you can usually have darker tints (Cali, FL) but I think it looks tacky when you got different % tints on the front adn different on the back. Jersey is pretty bad with nothing on the fronts but can get limo on the rears. Ghetto.

I agree with you on that, there was this 7 series at my tint shop when I had the tints done. He went with 35% in the front and 5% on the rear, and something looked really off. :P

In Maryland they can pull you over for tint alone. tag cover ,glowing lights and damn mod.

agreed.

i asked the dealer if i could get my windows tinted like the g35 in the commercials (back in 03). one thing i hate about auto advertisement - they tint the fronts with 10% or less (obviously to hide the driver so you can picture yourself in the seat), but it also drastically improves the lines of a vehicle by eliminating the contours of seats, drivers, steering wheel, etc... to a point where it cannot be duplicated during ownership.

false advertisment. they should all be sued.

Well I will chime in as I am the poster boi for the Fairfax PD. My tint ticket in VA is $30 plus a $57 processing fee. I think I have like 4 now...LOL. I have 35% all around. VA law is 50 front, 35 rear. MD law is 35 all around. If you live in DC, tinting is illegal along w/ everything else I have only gotten pulled over in VA and NJ. I got pulled over in NJ, cuz he couldnt see my license plate, and he thought my cell phone clipped to my visor was a radar detector, and my graduation tassel was considered obstruction of vision, and because he couldnt see my tags, he said if I did have NJ tags, my tint would have been illegal and my bluetooth earpiece was flashing blue rapidly (cuz I was on the phone w/ my girl) ....oh yeah and cuz I was black driving a nice car in the hood on the way to a business meeting. (he thought I was driving dirty)

Factory glass comes with a few % tint since it's not 100% clear. If the legal limit is 35% and you layer 35% on your 3-5% factory glass, technically your tints can fail to meet legal limits. Of course, tints do fade over time. I wouldn't worry about it since 35% isn't half as dark as most cars on the road.

NJ doesnt have a ban on radar detectors though so they shouldnt have cared about that!! Only VA and DC are the 2 areas in the country that do I believe.

I dont know NJ radar detector law, but the cop was just an a$$hole and he kept flashing that light in my eyes and I kept on covering my eyes when talking to him, I would have kicked his ***, but he looked like that big muthafocker off the movie "Green Mile"
