Clutch pedal clicking noise, is it normal?

Whenever I depress the clutch pedal all they way it makes a clicking noise.

Passport Infiniti of Alexandria said that it is normal. The mechanic explained that a connector attached to the clutch assembly has a clicker. It is designed to click whenever the clutch is depressed all the way. The connector is there so it ensures that the clutch is depressed all the way and starts the engine.
He removed the connector and showed it to me. He pressed down on the clicker and it was the same noise.
He mentioned all of the new '06 coupes have this noise effect as well. I should have asked if I could test this on a new car.

Anybody here that bought their car brand new noticed this clicking noise?

There are other threads on this topic which I get conflicting answers so I'm confused.

Interesting. I typically just push the clutch in far enough for it to engage vs to the floor. I'll have to check this out.

Ok, just got back from the store. I heard the click, it definitly sounds intintional. I know you can adjust the engament point on the pedal, you can probably set it up so that it clicks at the engagement point. Could come in handy at the track, help make sure you don't try to shift too soon.

So apparently this clicking noise is normal then, right? The clicking is to let you know when to shift. Makes sense.
Well go on the main g35 coupe forum and into the thread "clutch pedal clicks". I am in communication with username Bythabay and he states that by replacing the whole clutch pedal assembly resolves this clicking noise. Perhaps you two can discuss this topic since both of you know more than I do about it.

The only thing you should be hearing is the spring... there should be no other noises.

I haven't had time to actually find the clicking "device" but you can definitly hear it, but it sounds natural. I'm pretty sure its not a spring. I'm not sure if this is an '06 thing. I'll have to check out a few other cars in the club.

What type type of sound does the spring make?

The Passport Infiniti mechanic removed the connector(that is what he called it) which is white in color. It is in the shape of a rectangle with a plug on one end and a black button on the other end. It is about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. When he pressed the black button down, it made the sound which I hear when I fully depress the clutch. Is this connector the spring you're talking about?

Did the mechanics which took a look at this clicking noise issue mention this connecor to you?

Here is a picture of my old clutch pedal assembly. The area circled in red was the source of the clicking in my case...

Thanks for the photo but I don't believe my clicking noise is coming from that location. It comes from the white connector with a black button. I believe it functions as a switch. Have you seen this device?
