Lightbulb Bose Speaker issues

I've been b*tching about the Bose system in my new G for a while now. So I had the dealer check out the setup on my '04 trade in. (Luckily I caught them when I did the new owner took delivery last night). Turns out that the guy that had it before me put in a 900W Kenwood amp to run the rear Bose speakers. I've decided to find something comparable for my new '06.

If it ends up sounding like the '04 (which it should) the sound should be awesome. If you're looking for a nice upgrade to the Bose system that is minimal, upgrade the pos 300w max amp they have in there.

These are the amps I'm looking at. Any suggestions?

well as you can see in my profile I'm optin for a up6 and a 450/4 to power the front components and the coax's in the back for rear fill (not connecting the 6x9 woofers got a sub to replace that)

In reality a new amp wont make much a difference cept drive more power to sh*tty speakers anyway. If you do put a new amp at least change out the front components. You don't really need something like a DLS up6 or a Dynaudio 240GT (which is what i'd recommend), but you could get something like infiniti kappa's or cdt's if you want.

I'm sure a sub would work well. A lil more than what I'm looking for, plus I like my trunk space (cant fit two golf club bags with a sub). If you've never heard the Bose speakers through an amp. Hold on and you can listen to mine. As I said I had this setup before and it sounds really good! I unfortunatly didn't know it at the time or I would have taken the amp when I traded it in. I now know why people always complain about the Bose system. I've been driving around for the past three weeks thinking it sounds like @ss.

I'm also looking at this amp now, found it online for $6 more than the other Kenwood.

well with that you're going to have 250 watts to each speaker in the front...sorta overkill for paper speakers

The thing about the bose system is that the HU is perfectly adequate, the amp is absolute sh*t and the speakers are made of paper. The blose amp is pushing like ~33 watts to each speaker as it is (afaik the front components aren't seperate..if they are then its 25 watts each).

If you go the 2ch amp route are you not planning on powering the other 4?

The amp in the '04 was just powering the rear two speakers. I haven't looked at the cones yet, but from hearing their true potential I'm pretty sure they're not paper.

I plan on ordering an amp this weekend; hopefully it'll be here in about a week. Sit tight.

actually in the 05 of mine, I actually think the woofers themselves are pretty poor. The components I could see being a little better with a better amp

Actully, I had to go back to the drawing board after I realized that the amp was driving all four rear speakers, not just the two Bose in the back. I have another amp in mind. I think Tweeter will do installs on stuff not purchased there, and BestBuy has a comparable amp (but it costs like $100 less online). I'm gonna go check out install prices for Tweeter and purchase+install at BestBuy today or tomorrow. Depending on how much they want will determeine whether or not I attempt the install myself.

Yea the amp actually powers all 6 (i put the components up front as 2) so the bose HU feeds 4 channels: FR, FL, RR, and RL to the amp which divies out to the speakers. Also only the back two 6x9's are bose speakers I have no idea what make the components and coax's are.

I haven't seen any diagrams for wiring a 6 channel; the Bose is a 4ch.

The Bose amp in my 03 is 6 channel.

Per digitalwheelz's site:

Output Wires leaving the Amp:

driver door/tweeter: g + r -
passenger door/tweet: gy + y -

rear driver: g/y + b/y -
rear pass: br+ b -

driver woof: l/y + w/g -
pass woof: l/r + l/w -

Ah. I see what you mean... There are more pages to the diagram that I was looking at.

I wonder if I could add an amp for the two rear woofers, and continue having the Bose do the other 4(+2). I think the front sounds decent as is, so I don't want to over power them.
The question would be where to put another amp?

I really which I had time to personally inspect the sys. in my '04...
