The Compustar remote starter/alarm ran me 650 installed but that was down in richmond. The guys up here wanted nearly 1000 for it.

the spot in richmond was called rollin thunder. They are an authorized dealer.

I got a compustar and I love it. John and I got ours done around the same time. The only thing is that it uses up batteries like once every 2 weeks if kept in vibration mode and every 4 weeks if kept in regular (beeping) mode. I definitely suggest using rechargeable batteries.

Other than that, I love the thing and plus it impresses the chicks when I go home.

Also when they install it, make sure they dont set the alarms sensitivity level too high, cuz then your alarm will be going off all the time. Also be sure to ask for the backup alarm (2 button) as well cuz sometimes they forget. The range on the alarm is 1.25 miles. It also has other options like rolling down your windows, revving the engine, and proximity (ex. If you leave your windows down and someone reaches in, the windows automatically roll up) and it comes w/ a knock sensor (ex. If your in the mall and your chick is at the car, she can knock on the glass to page you to open the door for her)...I thought this was pretty cool, but mine was defective and I took it off.

All of the above options are optional and do cost more than 650 except for the knock sensor, which does come w/ the device.

He quoted me $500 for the base install, and an additional $50 for the immobilizer bypass, which is required for the remote start. There are more options, which of course will cost more, but I'll install those myself at a later date.

if you want to save lots of money, just get a bulldog alarm.

I brought one and it really works good with the G. The best way to use it is too hard wire the 12Volt to the battery instead of using the battery clip.

I posted in the regular G forum way back after I got mine CM 3.5X installed. I think it's the same one as the one Jess is going to get. I got mine while I was working at Best Buy so I got a huge deal on the unit and the guy in the install bay hooked me up. I got the bypass module, shock sensors, proximity alarm all for about $300 installed. I can also roll the windows up and down.

It's been about 2 years and so far everything is relatively okay. Doors unlock, the car starts, and it does what I need to. The battery issue is pretty big. I eat through a new AAA about once every month or two. The problem I have now is the remote itself. It's pretty flimsy. It still works but it's like coming apart at the seams. The other big problem is that sometimes it won't register properly anymore. I'll lock the car and the car beeps in response but the remote doesn't get the signal. The remote start still signals properly.

I'll have to show you guys next time if you're intersted. Just be sure to take care of that remote if you do get one. If somebody can host I can send out pics.
