Uneven tire wear

Hi guys. Hope you all had a happy new year. Sorry I haven't been to active on this forum. Don't have as much free time anymore.

I was just wondering if anyone experienced this problem or has any advice? I probably should have taken care of this sooner but haven't really had the time because of the holidays and work. After switching my summer tires to my winters, I noticed that the summer tires had uneven tire wear. The outside was wearing out much more than the insides. I've done a search and found info about tire feathering and uneven tire wear usually being on the inside instead of outside. I'm bringing my car into Passport to have the alignment checked. Currently I have my winters on. Anyone know if I need to show them the uneven tread wear on the outside of my summer tires to "prove" the uneven wear? Or should they be able to see these results from the equipment they use to adjust the alignment. Also I noticed that most people buy new tires to replace the ones that were worn unevenly. Anyone know if replacement OEM summer tires would be covered under warranty (I also have the tire and wheel insurance) since it would be because of factory alignment settings? I would hate to have to buy new tires since I've probably only put about 8k miles on the summers.

--- edit: i currently have ~9600 miles

UPDATE: Just wanted to let you guys know that Passport refused to cover alignment work even though I have only 9600 miles on my car. They told me that anything could have screwed up the alignment (potholes, etc) and could even have screwed up alignment on all 4 tires. So I called up IOC and spoke with Ryan. He was very courteous and told me normally they wouldn't cover it but could sneak me in for alignment work. He also found it very strange that I had uneven tread wear on the OUTSIDE of my tires. He advised me to bring in the car in the spring since I currently have winter tires on with 17" wheels (diff alignment) and would want to set it to the correct settings with the 19" summer tires. He said he'd hook me up with a free alignment once the summers are back on.

I've only been going to Passport since I bought my car from them but have not been satisified with service and certain employees (I think those employees I've had problems with no longer work there). Last time I brought my car into Passport I think someone was having a little too much fun with my car. They put on 15 miles on it and the MPG from the navi dropped about 5mpg!! They gave me excuses about how they needed to drive it to make sure everything was ok and that they could have taken in on the beltway (highway driving should increase my mpg!) and then made up something else where they could have driven it up and down Duke St. and all those stop lights could bring my MPG that much lower. The treatment I got from IOC was much better and I plan to bring my business there from now on.
