Been Searching for a used 3000GT

I have been looking on forums for common issues with these cars and the most damaging one to the pockets has been either tranny or syncros on older ones. Do any of you have any info on them?? this is the SL not the VR4. I am in the market for one, but just hard to find one in decent condition.

I assume you've checked out http://www.3si.org/ ? They're ****holes but they know their stuff. Definately one of the sexiest cars ever IMO. In case you haven't been there, common problems:

http://www.3si.org/forum/showpost.ph...3&postcount=78
* Broken window regulators ($100 to $250)
* Cracked transfer case/leaking oil (Under federal recall: free!)
* Flashing tour/sport light (unplugged wire on ECS)
* Brake light flash on acceleration (low brake fluid)
* Yellow indicator light flashes on turns (low window washer fluid)
* Water leaking into the car (often through the rear hatch)
* Car smokes a lot during idle (head gasket/etc - $1000+)
* Lifter tick (inevitable, possibly research 3rd generation lifters $350+)
* Active Aero not working (check wiring)
* Alarm goes off randomly (check hood/door triggers)
* Locks randomly activate/deactivate (ETACs $150, or Door Switches $35, or wiring)
* Snapped timing belt (if not replaced every 60k)
* Broken radio antenna ($50 to $100)
* Grinding into 1st and/or 2nd gear (going syncros, $1000+)
* Cracked dash vents ($50 to $90)
* Ripping/cracking leather seats ($300 to $750 to reupholster)
* SRS light on (Free – unplug bulb in gauge cluster)
* Leaking oil on valve cover ($10.00 for replacement oil cap with better seal)
That thread has a lot of other good info.

I really love that car. I'd trade mine in for a VR4 + cash, but the SL is more or less the same car as my eclipse.

I used to love the 3000GT. All the way up to the year when they put that tall supra style wing on. Only problem with them was that they were too heavy. 3800+ lbs for the VR4.

I know it's kind of off topic but here's my friends JDM VR4 Galant (RHD) and he lives in MD.
