BMI did a test of the 350z running on the old tire setup vs the 19s, the end result was that the car laped faster around tsukuba by a few 10th of seconds. however the driver... i dont remember who, i think it was Gansan.. had indicated that the larger tire size makes the car handle better but it also makes it more sensitive and harder to control. its great for skilled pros, but he expects that amature drivers will actually get slower laptime due to the new sensitivity making the car feel nervous.
as mentioned before, they also said that the Z(and G) are tuned for slight understeer on purpose, which is great for amature drivers. I wouldnt try to get rid of the understeer... unless you are real confident in your abilities, 100% neutral cornering can be a dangerous thing.., even the new ferrari F430 is incorporating more understeer making it much easier for regular people to drive on the track compared to the 360. like the lekster said, it depends on your skill level. plus the weight distribution of our car allows professional drivers on BMI to choose between under and over with brake and throttle control just fine.
btw i believe 04.5 and 05s and 06 6mt with the sport suspension option has significantly stiffer rear spring rates than previous models (went from 342 to 427lb/in), the 19s also contribute to make it even stiffer. Theres very little bodyroll. too much stablizer can make the left and right side loose their independence and work against the multilink suspension system by transfering bumps between the wheels.
For those that has aftermarket stablizer on 04.5 and 05s, how much room is there to increase the stablizer before it effects handling in a negative way? also how do they effect comfort of daily driving?
